I am a huge BBQ sauce fan. I love making my own, and trying all of the different sauces that are out there? Does anyone have a good recipe that you are willing to share, or sauces that you would reccomend?
I have been trying to make mine own sauce, but haven't fell in love with any of the results yet. Some of them tasted good, but not great. As for brands to reccomend, I really love: Bone Sucking Sauce http://www.bonesuckin.com/ Montgomery Inn http://www.montgomeryinn.com Bubba's Q http://www.bubbasq.com/ Bubba's Q is my favorite restaurant too. The sauce and food are amazing. It is owned by the ex-Cleveland Browns player, Al "Bubba" Baker.

This is my favorite BBQ place.
http://jimnnicks.com/ They have a Habenero BBQ sauce that is the best stuff I've ever put in my mouth. It's not designed to hurt you bad, like typical habenero hot sauces, but it will definitely slap the uglies off your day!

O.K. Angio;
Give this a try: My Rub for Pork Ribs: 2 tablespoons chili powder 2 tablespoons ground cumin 1 tablespoon ground coriander 1 tablespoon kosher salt 2 teaspoons ground white pepper 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper Mix it all together and rub into the ribs, and rest them on a plate in the fridge for about 2 hours before grilling. Here is my Bar-B-Que Sauce to go with that as a final coating before removing from the grill, and also for dipping. 1 cup water 1/2 cup ketchup 1/2 cup olive oil 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar 1/2 cup brown sugar juice of 1 squeezed lemon 2 tablespoons yellow mustard 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce 2 teaspoons paprika 2 teaspoons kosher salt 1 teaspoon ground white pepper 1 teaspoon fine chopped garlic 1 small onion chopped fine Put it all together in a saucepan and cook over a medium flame for about 15 minutes stirring ocassionally untilk the sauce thickens. When it thickens to your liking, remove from the stove and let it cool. Transfer to a bowl with a lid and pop in the fridge until needed. (The thickness depends on my mood and what I am grilling, sometimes I like it thinner with chicken and rice, and I like it thicker for ribs, steaks and even mushroom burgers) Give that a try and see how you like it. Fancy, fancy recipe ...
my quick-and-dirty sauce: Take a bowl. Give it a glop of molasses and a bigger glop of catsup. Add a shake of garlic powder, a couple drops of Liquid Smoke, a dash of sugar, and (if you like a good tang) a dash of balsamic vinegar. Finish with a squirt of Sriracha Thai hot pepper sauce. Mix and apply. Also good on burgers 'n dogs. |

Some people have seen my screen name and assume it has to do with gambling, but actually "Pit Boss" came from my barbeque days.
Living in Kansas City, where BBQ reigns supreme, I have always loved the stuff. As`I got older I learned more and more about the art of cooking it, and eventually competed for several years on the BBQ circuit. This led to the inevitable development of my own sauce and rub, called imaginatively enough "Pit Boss BBQ Sauce and Rub" which was available in several dozen local grocery stores for a few years. Finally gave it up, but in the meantime both won several awards at contests including the grandaddy of them all, the American Royal Cookoff. Anyway, I'm no expert but if anyone has any questions on how to cook the stuff I might know a trick or two... JD |

Cool!
Best BBQ I ever had was in rural Georgia (Camden County for those of you keeping score). This ol' black gent would set up in the back of his station wagon and folks would stop to get pulled pork sandwiches and bbq beef sandwiches, absolutely excellent. As expected someone would call and complain and the deputy would go over and ask him when he planned on selling out. If he said 4pm the deputy would tell him they would be back at 5pm to make sure he cleared out! They would then leave, pulled pork in hand, and he was left alone to finish the day. |
