Hello everybody!
I am considering wearing a vest/necktie for my act. In all my shows I wear a suit and I wondered what are the advantages of the vest on the suit/coat. My act is manipulation and general magic.

Why not have the vest be a part of the suit ?

Pro: Vest is much cooler and more comfortable, spectator is much less likely to assume sleeving, Easier to move in, bulky coat sleeves don't get in the way, stylish in most informal settings, shows off those natty cufflinks, fits into nearly any setting.

Con: Limited topit placement, restricted sleeving, limited pocket space, limited pull, reel and flite concealment, more difficult to ditch palmed items in vest or pants pocket.

I wear a vest occasionally with a tie and sleeves rolled up. I do this primarily in the summer or when working a casino night and perform my gambling act.

If you are wearing a costume for function then you are wearing it for the wrong reasons...

I usually wear both, although, I do sometimes wear a jacket without a vest, or a vest without a jacket. In fact, I've been looking at getting a new vest, either this one: http://www.gentlemansemporium.com/store/000621.php or one like it.

I love vests, but you should wear whatever is YOUR style. If a vest doesn't fit that style, don't wear it. Simple as that. If it is exactly what you want/are looking for, more power to ya. =)

Vests keep you a lot cooler and you can make steals from the front pockets. Jumbo coins,small silk fountains etc.

I sometimes wear a vest, particularly if I'm wearing a tie and I don't want it (the tie) to get in the way of a topit.
