Justin, I was about to let everyone know that a Texas Roadhouse in North Wales PA opened up. They have a Family Night Monday Nights. Would like to see someone here get the job.

Back in the 90's I worked a place called The Silver Lake Inn in NJ. It later became Baron's and I worked there as well (there was another magician that worked there for a month or two right after the change over).
I worked Baron's 5 nights per week for just over 2 years. Before that I worked a "Cotardo's Ristorante" for a bit and some local steak houses. I am fresh back on the scene and have an inside man at a local establishment called Café Lamberti. It's an upscale joint in the high rent district and if things go well it will be a great new home for my magic. It would mean a tux... every night... and I am NOT a fan of performing in a tux... but I'll do it to net and keep a gig like this. My agent is looking into two other local venues as well. It's good to be back on the scene, looking forward to catching up on everything I;ve missed in the past 8 or 9 years.

That sounds like a sweet deal Jay, let us know how it pans out.
We finally had a casino open in my area. I say casino, but it's slots only. My agent booked all the entertainment for the grand opening and I was working my butt off to get in. They didn't buy it though. I thought this would go great in one of the restaurants or bars there. Does anyone here have experience in a slots only casino? |

Lyle you say you could close 7 out of 10 you talk to, that is ^#%%#^#@^%" good. you should write a book if your busy performing schedule allows it.

After reading this post about the Texas Roadhouse I decided to drop by on family night this past Monday. It’s only been about a year since I've worked at the place but I didn't know one person working that night. Must be some high turnover going on but the place was busy. I ordered a beer at the bar and watched for a while. It was very strange. Most of the wait staff was busier learning line dances than waiting tables? I mean all of them. When did they start doing that crap. Anyway I asked about their family night and was told by the bartender "Oh man we don't do that any more, just brought in a bunch of people wanting free meals who didn't tip." I just said that's too bad, I used to like to bring my kids in here. I finished up my beer and took off.
Apparently the management here has decided it's cheaper to train the girls to entertain people with these silly line dances than it is to pay professional entertainment. Hope this isn't a trend that moves to the rest of the stores. |

Derrick, they found out that the Lone Star is doing that. I think it is possible they may be owned by the same company.
Nothing more frustrating than needing a fork or something for your dinner which is getting cold, and having your server line dancing! I have never been a fan of working any "promotional nights" as they do tend to bring the bargain hunters in.
