Hey Wayne,
In your line of work, you are constantly thinking up, creating and polishing new ideas. - many of which are lovely (: But how do you ensure that the creative juices don't run out? And how do you continue to ensure that your creations are original and new? Is there a "set way" of getting these juices going? And where do you get your "inspiration" from? Best, ChrisK |

Greetings!
I create for myself. If I had to either give up creating or give up performing, without a doubt I would give up creating. My love of live performance is what stimulates my creativity. As for ensuring that ones creations are original and new... I wish that were possible I have created several things that I've been very proud of, only to find out that they had been done before. I think, as magicians, we can certainly tend to think along the same lines & inevitably that leads to many re-creations. I think that's just part of the game when it comes to our art - what matters is what one does when they find out they've re-created an existing effect. Regarding inspiration: As I said before, I create for myself. My inspiration will come from many places, but it always revolves around something that I am personally interested or fascinated in. I know it sounds counter-intuitive, but the performance & creation of magic is a VERY personal thing to me. W:H WAYNE HOUCHIN |
