What's the best way to secure the ends of the rope for the fiber optics routine? For years I've performed C&R and simply snipped he ends before a performance.
Thanks Michael |

Hi Michael
I will answer your question, but first you must tell me what type of rope do you use.

It is the Elite rope from Hocus Pocus Magic.

Here is my method 1. wrap 1" masking tape tightly around the end. 2. cut rope with about 1/4" sticking out with a razor blade. 3. dip end into a puddle of Elmers glue. 4. allow to dry a little for about ten minuter. 5. roll between thumb, and index finger to make smooth and remove lumps. 6. take tape off and allow 24 hours to dry. It should look like the eraser end of a pencil when it dries. Do not wash, dry clean only.

Camarand magic sells elite rope thru distributors like Murphy, Show-biz services etc. Murphy sells to hundreds of accounts, so most shops can get it thru them for you.

Excellent advice from Al! I have been using the Elmer's glue for my ropes for a long time. I have not found a better solution.

Masking tape is different then cellophane - clear plastic based tape or, say, duct tape which is cloth based. |

Hoaky smokey
I thought that masking tape was a universal term. Yes I use 1" paper tape that I remove after the glue partially dries. Daniel are you American?

I have used some of my wifes Fray check really worked good. I then came back with some of her sewing glue and diped the ends in it. It made them look a little shiney but I don't think it will really show that much
