The best way we can all help Jake right now is to relieve him of his work pressure so that he can get some rest and concentrate on doing what it takes to stay alive. What's the value of that compared to getting an order filled, no matter how overdue it may be?

Jake,
My sincere wishes go out to you for a speedy recovery. Hurdles like this really help a person clarify his priorities. As much as I respect you for your fine reputation in the magic community, and your unending dedication to your customers, you NEED to put yourself first. Whatever you do, DON'T SELL THE COMPANY. The company has become a part of your soul. To sell it suggests you are giving up, and you're too good a man for that. If you need to, hire people to take over the business and train them to love the craft as much as you do. The company can then continue indefinitely as a legacy to you and your family. If you need any help to make this happen (including any financial support) feel free to contact me. I don't want or expect anything in return. I just want you to be able to focus on yourself, get the rest you need, and recover as quickly as possible. Kent

Jake, we spoke about a year ago when my health failed, and I spiralled into a dark headspace. It is so frustrating when you can't do that which you wish.
But, PLEASE, do not make any hasty decisions... also, drop the tranny a gear or 2 and slow down. You will get there at your own pace and those who can't understand have very little life expereince. God Bless my friend. YoursAye, The seadawg

I want to share my own personal testimony with all of you about the man behind that mask which has symbolic meaning many will never understand...
You might be surprised to hear that Jake and I have never actually met in person even though I invested with him several years ago and am the software engineer behind the web presence. For years we had planned to meet and complete legal documentation but the timing was just never right. Heck, shortly after we began, my divorce and separation from my children after 14 years of marriage began. I made a choice to put my faith in him and he's never let me down to this very day. Even while running this company, he still made time to carry me spending countless hours talking to me on the phone about anything and everything just to get me through those long, painful and lonely nights alone in my one bedroom apartment. Since then I've been in close contact with him almost daily as friend, family and colleague. He is the most incredible person I have ever known and I will always love him dearly with all of my heart. I say this without bias because I've gotten to know him well over the years and am in awe of his life experiences and what he has endured long before he ever took over this company. He's accomplished more in a fraction of his life than most ever will in their entire lifetime. He is responsible for every product you have ever seen on the website though he has never used the term "I". Instead, he would always say "we" are really something, aren't we? It sincerely breaks my heart that the endeavor is finally coming to a close but his health is more important to us all. I felt it was just a matter of time before all of this caught up with him for the longest time. One man can only do so much and he fought like hell, working around the clock, to keep this beast alive. We had a great time and if we had it all over to do again, I don't think we would change a thing! Thank you for all of the support! |

Hey Jake - Look after yourself & get well. Maybe a full recovery will mean a little down time - but if that's what it takes to get back to 100% then it's got to be worth it. Best
Richard

One of the things that make Jake such a good person (especially to those who know him) is the vast life experiences he has had and his willingness to share those experiences (directly or indirectly). Unfortunately, when you open up your heart and passions, it is hard to put them on hold or put them away even to the detriment to one's self. How do you tell an artist to stop creating or someone to stop loving.....? As long as I have known Jake, he is only happy following his heart and passions. His family and then his friends have always come first, and then his work (including customers), other interests/pursuits (in his free time [joke]), and then himself personally (when forced to by health).... Take care, Jake. James |

The medications that I am on leave me punchy most of the day Jake, Can you have Rich add that to your website as a new product? It would be easier than making cups, and I'm sure you'd have customers lining up. Just a thought Frank

I'd just like to add that, at first, my experience with Jake was rocky. We worked through it, and I consider him to be the most trustworthy vendor in the magic business. The quality of his workmanship is unsurpassed, and his dedication is way above and beyond the call of duty. If you are awaiting delivery on an order, cut the man some slack. Having dealt with illness myself in the past, I can tell you sincerely that Jake is better than his good word.

Jake has never, ever let me down. RNT II is the company with the best customer care I have ever known.
Jake started off as someone who helped me choose some cups. He has become my friend. God bless and care for you Jake and your family too. Tom

In October of 2006 Buffalo had an extremely bad storm. Due to getting 4 feet of water in my house, I lost most every think I owned at the time. Including most of my magic books and props. Jake contacted me to see if I needed anything, if he could send me a "care package" of sorts. The amazing thing about this is...I have never met Jake! Here is a man who didn't know me from Adam, offering me help!!! This says a lot about the integrity of Jake!!! I will consider Jake a friend for life!!! With that being said...Jake, get better...get your butt out of bed...I have a really cool Okito Box design that I'd like to get manufactured !

Hopefully others who buy/sell or is a craftsman/manufacturer in magic will follow Jake and RNT II's lead - IMO the widespread opinion and appreciation of Jake is the main reason he is/was so successful (well, that and he does such outstanding work). In the end, life is what's most important and its hard to walk away from a labor of love. Take care of yourself and your family Jake, in the end, that's all that matters.
