I have the small square one. Is it different than the larger hard cover? If so, is the difference significant? Is it worth it to pick up the larger version as well? Thanks in advance and sorry if this has been addressed before (I'm sure it has but I don't have time to sift through the ninety-something pages of search results.)

The Encyclopedia of magic is an abbreviated of the Complete Course in Magic. If what Mark told me is true, the Encyclopedia, regardless of size is the same book. There are some variations in the Complete Course in Magic which was first published in the early 70's and the current paperback edition. The newer paperback edition added a new chapter to previous versions.

The larger book, "The Complete Course" is filled with much more magic. I started out with the smaller book, but when I found the complete course I grabbed that too. It has been a wonderful source of info. Has helped me grow as a performer.
Seems to me that death is just natures way of telling us to SLOW DOWN!

The exact title of mine is "Mark Wilson's Cyclopedia of Magic- A Complete Course" The last copyright is 1993 so I guess I have newest printing of the smaller book. I'll definately look into the hardcover edition as my book is pretty well shredded anyhow. Thanks, guys, for the info.

There are BIG differences between the two, and well worth the additional $10 you'd pay to get the bigger one. The larger one has almost twice as much magic than the smaller one and is much easier to read. There is a lot missing from the smaller one. The larger one will also lay flat, where the small one is hard to study from since it wants to close on its own.
Although I enjoy the bigger one, I have the smaller one as well. It fits great in an overnight bag when traveling giving me something to take along while on the road without taking up much space. Mark. |

There is a HUGE difference! In fact in my opinion the majority of the best stuff was taken out of the smaller version. It was designed as a quick point of sale item and has a tiny fraction of the original full sized course. Best,
