Anyone use "Snowstorm" for a kids' birthday party? How is the response?

I haven't tried, but I bet it only works well with older kids (9 and up).

Phillip's right. Mrs Smith would not be happy with the mess.

I talk to the parents before I do the snowstorm. 90% of the time it is no problem. I use it in a story of a local "casique" (a chief of the Indians, a shaman) who celebrates the birthdays of kids with a display never seen in "these parts" before. This is all in preparation for the chair suspension. The magic must first happen before the birthday child is awarded the power of suspension. It sounds corny but it gets a good response--uuhs and ahhs for the snow and less of a challenge for the chair.

I'd love to see it all done in a 10' x 12' living room complete with 20 kids, a telly, sofa, arm chair and wall unit. My performance area in these circumstances is often less than 3' square. What do you do in those condition?

Snowstorms at a b-day party are just a big mess, as stated before. Do you really want to be there 30 minutes after your show with their vacuum cleaner? What if you have other shows to perform? You don't want to be late. I save my snowstorm for stage shows. It is a pretty effect but I am sure you could fill your time with something else. Tricks with liquids, confetti, etc., should stay out of kid shows in my opinion.

We have enough snow outside.

You could always ask the parents if they want to do the show outside so that there isn't as much worry about the mess. Also gives you a little more room to work, though climate would be a factor. Also make sure to keep a good grip on that dove if his wings aren't clipped

HI,
Most magicians here in the Uk refuse to work outdoors for birthday parties or at the least are very reluctant. Phillip |

In the summer, with no hint of rain or wind, and as long as there is shade for the kids to sit under, I will do a party outside, but if the conditions even hint of change, we have to do the whole party inside.
