How can I cut and edit an MP3 ? I have the MP3 Tech and I have selected 7 pieces of music. Times range from 7 secs to 55 secs. How do I cut these up?
My software editing stuff hates mp3.I tried Audacity and Wavepad to no avail.

In other words, I do not want the whole song, I just want to cut a piece off.
Does anybody know how?

Thanks in advance

Do you have the original pieces of music on CD anywhere? What you want to do is copy the music off the CD into WAV format, edit that, then convert the edited version to an mp3. You can uncompress the mp3 back to a WAV, edit it, and recompress it to an mp3, but you will lose quality that way.

There are some pieces of software that let you edit mp3s directly without the original source file, I'm not sure how the quality changes if you use them. Here are two that I found, and they're free:

http://www.nch.com.au/wavepad/ - This one seems to be the best, it loads the mp3 and automatically converts it into a format it can read, then lets you edit it and save it again in any format you want.
