Hey all,
I have been so busy with music of late I have been out of the loop as far as new magic literature is concerned. (I contributed a thread in the Bizarre Magick section that I will be posting downloadable music and sounds FREE for Café members this summer, I will keep all posted). Anyway, has anyone gotten word as to when The Jennings book will be published? This looks to be a killer addition and given Richard Kaufman's high production values, I predict it will be a MUST have. Thanks folks and keep frying the specs! Vlad |

Apparently it is almost finished now, so hopefully we will get it late this year or early next year. Hopefully. Some people have already been waiting over a decade!

In Richard's own words...
"As for Jennings, I'm now editing the text, starting at the beginning, before sending it to proof readers and beginning the process of taking photographs." I doubt we'll see it any time too soon (especially if those are pre-illustrative photos), but given Richard's track record for quality and attention to detail I have every confidence that it will be worth the wait. |

In the may issue of Genii Richard says ...
"... after 17 years, I've completed the text for Mr. Jennings Takes It Easy; over a quarter of a million words, 500 pages of text before the photos are added." Who knows, maybe this book will be released this year. I for one surley hope so.

Thanks all!
In the meantime I will bury myself in the new Regal book, and catch up on other books I have been away from due to being quite busy with music. Best, Vlad |

Richard posted in the Genii forum that (hopefully) "Mr Jennings Takes It Easy" will be ready in 6 months.
If you take a trip to said forum you can read the contents of the book. It will be a huge massive book, with lots of material. MJTIE is definatly on my wanting list.

I wish more authors were willing to learn the word 'volume'.
As in Volume 1, Volume 2, Volume 3 . . . . If it's good enough for Walton and Ascanio, why not Jennings (and so many others)? Maybe it's just me, but I prefer books I can read without straining my muscles. |

I don't need any more secrets. I can't totally stop buying books.
This book has been on my list for a very long while. It'll be like xmas when it's finally published. |

Mrehula,
As I understand it, "Mr. Jennings Takes it Easy" IS one of a series of volumes. Number two of three to be exact. It was proceeded by "Jennings '67" and will be followed by the third in the series, "Mr. Jennings Takes it Tough". |

Yes, at least the material is divided in SOME way, or the book would have been a thousand pages with hundreds of photos and illustrations . . . and still not published. My point is that I'd rather invest in individual Harris-type collections (Super Magic and so on), rather than comprehensive volumes (Art of Astonishment). The large collections are obviously difficult to put together. |

I LOVE large books that give me a "workout". And so many of these giants ARE giants in our art including:
Stewart James In Print The James File The Secret Ways of Al Baker Greater Magic CardCraft Annemann: The Life and Times of a Legend Many more of course.... But, isn't it great to have ALL of Stewart James material collected? The Secret Ways of Al Baker has virtually everything from this Master. So, they're "heavy". I say make 'em as heavy as you want!!! I am a pro-musician and NO book is as heavy as the instruments I schlep to gigs Just imagine the size of a definitive Max Maven Collection!!! Now THAT could be a back breaker, but, think of all the wonderful time you can have reading it while recovering!! Best, Vlad |

It's 2009 and Kaufman still has more to do. <sigh>

I have given up on this book ever seeing the light of day.
I, like so many other people around the world have been patiently waiting for this follow up to Jennings 67 for many years now. I appreciate R.K has Genii to attend to each month but this book should have been out by now. All the best John |

Richard has recently mentioned on the Genii forum that the reason this book isn't coming out now or anytime in the near future has to do with the market. (His comments are a bit more acerbic than I wish to relay. Not that I fault him.)
I've noticed he has been selling off the rights to some unfinished books. While it might speed things up to hand this project off to someone else I sure do like his standards when it comes to publishing a book. I'm hoping his mood improves someday and we get to see the next two Jennings books. |
