Anyone have any idea where I can find a stand up or stage version of this?

I believe Billy McComb did something like this... but I can't be certain...

I would really appreciate it ya'll...

Camirand Magic sells a "glow" thread that is good for stage. It tears pretty easy, which is what you want. I use it in every show.

If you can break it and otherwise do the effect with it it's fine. If it's too tough to break, or it can not be balled up small enough, it's not.

What I picture when I think of regular ole yarn meets neither of these requirements.

Best regards,
Jeffrey
Why, yes. I do need new pictures. Why do you ask?

Billy McComb's routine is available via Hank Lee - it comes with yarn and excellent instructions. It also comes with a handy utility device...
Mediocrity is greatly under rated!

Both Jim Cellini and the late Billy McComb used rather thick cotton yarn (cotton being easier to bread than the synthetics). Cellini's routine is on one of his DVD's and McComb's is published (as noted above) and is actually on a video put out by the International Magicians Society.

In terms of thread, I tend to use a high contrast (yellow or orange) crocheting thread. It is very visible and breaks easily. Stand at the end of a table (table hopping) and all can see it. It is good for small venue stand-up work (parlor or club venues).

Here are some discussions on the gypsy thread that might interest you:
