Hi Folks,
Well the sad day has finally arrived...my Axtell Bug Off Buzzard has finally gone to the big bird arm illusion in the sky. I love all of Axtell's products (for crying out loud, I own half of 'em) and they have literally been my bread and butter for many years. If anyone has a Bug Off Buzzard that you would like to sell, please contact me (particularly if you're in Australia). Cheers guys Billy James |

Sorry to hear it. They pop up on Ebay occasionally, but not with much frequency. I imagine shipping costs to the bottom of the world get prohibitive quick.
Mind if I ask how long a run you got out of him? And what was the eventual terminal condition?

Yeah you're right, it's the postage that's the killer.
I had him for MANY years, probably 10 years I guess. So I got more than my money's worth from him. I recently did a move interstate and when I unpacked him his beak had stuck together. In my act it's ME who's mouth is not supposed to move! I'm assuming he may have been subject to some moisture or heat or even both during the move. He is my main character and I have got a lot of bookings because of him over the years so I'm keen to replace him. Cheers Billy |

Axtell has a 2-3 week wait right now. I think Steve Thomas was selling an original "Axtell Burd" on the "vent/juggling/fun crap" section. It's a good price and they're made of vinyl, so it will last you longer in the heat while you're waiting for Axtell to fill the order.
Also, did you try running cold water between his beak to see if the top and bottom would unstick??? |

Hi Chris,
I didn't try the water, but the beak is definitely a goner. To be honest he really was about ready to retire anyway. I'm thinking about replacing him with the Axtell Croc in the meantime (I already own him), it's just going to take up way more packing space than ole buzzard used to. Anyway amigo, thanks for the heads up, I'll go and check out Steve's Burd. |

I thought from your post you were "puppetless". the Croc is a great puppet...and, that sounds like you picked perfect animal puppets for living in Australia!

Hi all,
Well I've decided to get a new Buzzard from Steve Axtell. The quality of his puppets really is second to none in my opinion and on top of that Steve and his whole crew are just THE nicest people to deal with. I have used Axtell's for years and these puppets quite literally have helped to book me shows. Teachers are always blown away by the quality and character of them. I always get comments about them after the show and the kids absolutely LOVE them. If you want to see my Axtell 'fetish' then take a look here - http://www.sirlaughalot.com.au/Puppets_5.htm I'm only doing a standard show this year, but next year I'll be back to 2 shows touring and a Christmas show and I'll definitely be adding some more Axtells to the cast. Cheers Billy |
