We know what you meant by magic versus NLP. As suggested you should start with Corinda's 13 Steps to Mentalism, which is neither magic nor NLP. You'll be happy you did and everything will make much more sense.

About the BMX trick, watch one more time the video.
Look careffully the size of the package. It's impossible to put a car, truck, boat or plane in this pack. Only a BMX Voila, This is the solution I do the same trick but I put a whole train inside a very very big pack ( a TGV ). I ask to my spectator According to you what's inside the pack ? The spectator answer " A train of course ! " He's a right !
“I love talking about nothing. It is the only thing I know anything about.”

Technically they could have had Carnie Wilson perform it on Celebracadabra. Again, this is not a knock against Derren Brown who is my favorite performer in the world. I think his effects are brilliant. NOT because they require arcane knowledge or some unique ability on his part, but because he used methods that were available to anyone who studied magic to create something so different. I agree with others here, you need a better understanding of the fundamentals before you can appreciate what he's doing. |

If you follow derren's disclaimer at the start - that's how he does it...
follow looch's advice, then pretty much find your own hybrid path... more fun that way - why perform derren's effects his way anyway? (not saying you want to! - just an open question)... its like playing the guitar and insisting you're hendrix...

Who's this new kid on the block, Luke Jeremy? Sounds familiar yet different. A bit like Derren's NLP/magic/psychology hybrid effects, no?
