I have been asked to perform for a 50th birthday party.
I am looking for ideas to present for this particular person. Any ideas? :die:

Hi Stef,
I would imagine that everyone will be joking about how old and aged the guest of honor is, so I would do the opposite and select effects that will showcase his/her knowledge and experience. I will search for some effects that fit this and post them later. Bob

I believe that Doc Eason has an effect called Anniversary Waltz where teh happy couple's signatures fuse onto a single card, but that's about all I know about it. Helpful, ain't I? Anyway, anything similar would be a nice giveway.

Doc Eason also has an effect called "The Happy Birthday Trick". It is in Volume 2 of his "Bar Magic" video series. It is an excellent effect for a birthday situation.
You can also make the person a magician for a moment...and let him "perform" various effects...making him the star of the show. A good children's birthday magician is an expert in this area...regardless of the age of the birthday person. Steven Steele

The Anniversary Waltz would be great for a 50th anniversary, but maybe not as good for a 50th birthday. I would second the nomination for "The Happy Birthday Trick."

Ahem! A 50-year-old is NOT old! (Said he, speaking from MUCH experience! <G>)
Seriously, if you are looking for something for a birthday party, you might be interest in my routine, The Birthday Card, which appeared in my Showtime column in the Linking Ring of August, 1997. If you can't lay your hands on a copy of the magazine, e-mail me and I'll gladly send you a copy of the routine. (If anyone else is interested in the routine, feel free to e-mail, too.) |

I perform the card on ceiling with the birthday person. The audience will like it more than the birthday person.
And you might want to end your act by having the birthday cake appear. If some birthday relatives will help you, have it appear lit. |

I was thinking for this situation is tell the person his age is very magicial. As a matter of fact you have a birthday card for him to put his name on and you will show him just how magical it is.Take a blank face card that and have Happy birthday on it and have him sign his name below it.Then do your verson of the Ambiuos card routine showing him how magical his name really is.
Then it can be given out to him for his birthday gift from you. Shawn D |
