So one of the jokes I tell at my gigs goes like this:
Me: Think of a card? Them: Ok...got it! Me: Look UP! (There's about 1000 cards on the ceiling thanks to me) Is that your card? So it sounds really stupid...and you're right! Oddly enough it get's a laugh. I hadn't done the gag in a while but my buddy mentioned it to me today and it sparked my memory about the joke, so I thought I'd blow the dust off it and start using it again. So check it out! I do the bit. I ask someone to think of a card. They say the 8 of Spades. I tell them to look up. There is only 1 card on the ceiling above where they're sitting. It's the 8 of spades. The name on it matched the guys name I was doing the gag on. He flipped out! I thanked him, accepted his $20.00 tip and that was the only effect I did for him that night! Sometimes...you get lucky! I did!

You got lucky? Luck is when experience and hard work meet!
Lee Trevino ( Big Mex ) got a hole in one during a golf tournament. They said "you sure got lucky". Lee said "Lucky? I've been working on that shot my whole life".

Like Pepka, I also love when stuff like that happens, and I am actually trying to train myself to really be on my game when opportunities present themselves. Like mentalism effects which contain various "outs" I think it is a good idea to develop those same outs when possible whether working with cards or any other effects. There's got to be a way to create more scenarios like this and make them seem random.
I've had a couple of small incidents myself recently that I'd like to share as well. I was performing strolling magic a short while ago for a large Easter event for a new church. It was quite the ordeal; they had the Easter Bunny arrive in an open field in a helicopter, and the egg hunt contained over 20,000 eggs! Anyway, as I made my way through this crowd of about 1500 people, I noticed a small child (4 or 5 years old) with a couple of adults and I presented to him a Fantastik (the stick with six different colors that changes to one solid color with a paddle move). His face lit up when he saw this pretty little thing as I showed it on both sides. The adults smiled and looked on. The kid suddenly shouted with excitement (he was a wild one) "I LIKE GREEEEEEN!" The only stick I own happens to be green. The astonishment was almost overwhelming--especially the part when I do it "half and half" and hand it to them to examine. I was surprised that they didn't ask me to do it again. I thought I'd just leave them with that. I was doing some close up magic at a city festival just a couple of weeks ago and was doing the old Card Through the Handkerchief. There was a good little crowd of people around the table in the area where I was, comprised of teen-agers and parents, with a few small children. The one that I was performing for appeared to be a "leader" of a group of other young teens, perhaps even a gang (there was a lot of gang activity this year, and the police had their hands full). I think this young punk just wanted to see what I was all about, though he didn't give me any real trouble. I had him select and even shuffle the cards while I removed my handkerchief from my pocket. When he returned the deck and I was wrapping the deck with the hanky, I lost my grip on the deck and it began to slide out from between my fingers. My knee-jerk reaction was to squeeze the deck even harder in an attempt to catch what remained of the cards (it was pretty windy out--this was an outside event). Instead the deck "exploded" and cards scattered everywhere. As I'm thinking quickly about what to do now to get this back on track, I realize that I had the selected card in the hanky! I paused, looked at my hand that contained a somewhat wadded hanky, and opened it up to reveal the selected card. It appeared as though I had grabbed the selected card out of the middle of the cards as they disbursed and blew around. It couldn't have been more perfect. He slowly said "Nooo waayy..." and just looked at me and couldn't hold back a wide grin. He left the scene pretty quickly and minutes later had some of his other friends back to see what else I could do. It was a great time. On the outside, it looked like I did the impossible; on the inside I was saying to myself "whew--that worked out a whole lot better than the trick would have had nothing gone wrong!" I just love those happy moments! Curtis http://www.CurtisMagic.com

Yea I have an uncle who is a BIG heckler I had a queen of hearts in my pocket (I always do) and I asked him to name any card he always tries to bust my tricks but he named that darn Queen of hearts and he flipped lol I love it when that happens I remember practicing my ACR and I signed it with my signature and I ended with a folded card to wallet (the card was the 4 of clubs) well anyways I had the card in my pocket and I was eating dinner when a friend of mine came up and said show me a trick I had my invisible deck so I pulled it out and I asked him to name a card. He said the four of clubs I smiled and said "normally I like to a trick with all of the cards but we will just use one" so I put away my I.D and said "earlier I had a felling that you were gonna say that" so I handed him the folded four of clubs with my name on it and he lost it !!!!!!
