The global community should not even have heard about this issue. It should have been kept inside the inner circle and the two men in question should have settled it.
If ALL their friends wanted to meet and discuss every single thing they could think of concerning it and from that meeting come up with some sort of agreement that was acceptable to them, then it should have been handled that way. It could have gotten heated, screaming matches and choke holds if they felt that strongly ( nothing like a punch in the nose to make your point;-) But all in private. A hack like me shouldn't even know what's going on. It's not an issue between a 40 year veteran and a 20 year old kid that has to learn a public lesson on how things work. It's between two old friends with a long history in the magic world. So all this uproar is over what exactly? An ending to a..CARD TRICK. A %#$@&%$ card trick. It's about a 30 year old conversation about an ending to a trick that would not exist if Roy Walton didn't release Card Warp. There's misunderstandings far greater than this in the magic world, but none of us hear about it. Why? Because grown men, that know how to look at the bigger picture, settle the matters in private. I love the ending on the Paul Green DVD. It's a beautiful display. But the DVD is allot more than just a possible ending. Paul's tip about how to carry the cards and get into routine was worth tripple the price of the DVD if you do table hopping or strolling.

Sorry to ask a stupid question, but is the ending only workable for only card warp? i.e two cards, or can this be adapted or used for a dollar bill and card warp. I'm a big fan of Michael Close's Dr Strange trick and was wondering if Paul's additions would be a suitable ending to Dr Strange trick.
Thanks Regards Baobow |

You tear both cards, so, it wouldn't be for a bill.

I had a chat with Roy about this today. It seems Paul and I use exactly the same way to get into the routine
Not many folk know this, but originally Roy did the trick with unprepared cards, but wrote it up with the work in place to make it easier for people to do. Also, predating the Burger/Henning version, it was first demonstrated by Roy and Pat Page with jumbo cards. Take care, Ian |

I posted this elsewhere to help offer some perspective - I hope it also helps here:
When I heard the provenance of part of the item was in dispute I set back and decided to await some sort of outcome from the principles in this matter. Quote:

Jonathan,
I'll admit it, your post is excellent and brings up some really great points. As it would be a future purchase for me, it's easy. If I had bought it, learned it, practiced it, and loved it, I'd probably have more conflicted feelings. I'm really glad I learned about the problems prior to buying it. Thanks for sharing. |

So, the ending Doug Henning used on television was created by Eugene Burger? If so, I had forgotten. IMO, it's the most elegant Card Warp ending of all.

Over the years I've talked about Card Warp with Roy many times. Apparantly I was the first person he saw who started with two unprepared cards (although I know scads of others do this as well), but it's different to his original method, which he was kind enough to show me.
One of my favourite stories; a few years ago Roy was given an award by the AMA for Card Warp, and he and Jean went to the Castle to collect it. When he was there, Burger approached him and said 'Roy, Card Warp is a wonderful trick, but you must agree that my idea of doing it with Jumbo cards takes it to another level'. Roy then explained that when he and Pat first demoed it at the convention they did it with Jumbo cards, to which Burger's reply was 'No!' (which works a lot better when Roy tells the story...) Take care, Ian |

Great story IanKendall!
Also well done on being the first man to tell Roy about doing the trick with unprepared cards. |

Yes that's a nice story.Thank you.
I would love to hear what Roy Walton says during 'Card Warp'.I wonder has he changed what he says over the years.Maybe not a fair question to ask Ian on a fourm.
