I've never heard the phrase "on my tod". Does that mean "on my own"?

Yes, Mr Gould, it does mean 'on my own', it's an English expression!

I'll have to note that one down. I lived in London for a few years but never heard that one. Are you a Northerner, perchance?

Well the audience was tiny, but hey that's derby. also I think that's because 'magic' these days is ultimately unpopular, if you walk upto people in the street and ask them whether they like magic often you get the response 'no' lol.
Anyway, the show was great, I suspect half of the people watching were magicians, They opened up with the schizophrenia routine which was great but with the final effect of that being done with an invisible deck, unlike the one on tv which somehow was one card in the box. Then they moved onto errr.. I cant remember I think they were describing each others characteristics and special talents, stuart was producing cards from his hands and his mouth and was playing the character of a childhood nerd, he also used a wallet on fire to demonstrate the gates of hell, barry then talked about taking up smoking and levitated a cigerrette into his mouth. One of the final routines was the pirate cardtrick, which had an opener where stuart and barry were engaging in thought dialog with each other and a lot of homosexual inuendous and then eventually performed the pirate cardtrick with an audience member selecting a card and all the cards being thrown in the air with the named card being stabbed in mid air by the sword. The mentalism part of the show consisted of a voodoo routine where the participant got shocked everytime that stuart began counting to three. Eventually after being shocked by two different chairs they finally counted to three while barry had a lighter burning the voodoo dolls hand, at which point the participant claimed his hand was burning. errm yep they are great, bobser I am looking forward to seeing you in scotland on the one day free anthony jacquin hypnosis training event |

I really enjoyed this hour long show. Carefully and hilariously scripted. I loved the on stage sound effect control, especially the narration of 'the voice in their head'.
Their audience management and selection was top notch and the voodoo routine was brilliant. Check em out if you get a chance. As they said it is comedy magic. If it's funny it's comedy. If it's not it's magic. Great double act. Anthony

So it is normal practice to miss out half the rhyming bit to baffle the outsider. So Todd Sloan becomes Todd. I said to my wife (she's English..... arrrrrrgh!!!) a few years ago: "I think we should go down the Sweeney", and she didn't know what I was talking about.
'Sweeney Todd' is what I meant (former London barber who was moody and slit his customer's throats now and again). And in Scots - Todd is pronounced: 'Toad', which rhymes with 'road'. That means I actually said: "I think we should got down the road", in other words: head for home. And guess what? Being a woman, and English, she totally misunderstood me and phoned the police! What's that all about???!!!

Well, actually Sweeney Todd can also mean PC Plodd. which is the name of all coppers, and of course The Flying Squad are known as The Sweeney.

I don't post in lay groups but am happy to comment in secure and insecure environments dedicated to my interests.
I fear that four years ago I asked someone in an open but specialist mentalism forum if they knew where I could get some *****d **p cards. And naively gave away some modus operandi by asking the question. I seem to remember Dave Everett being quite upset and rightly so. I fear a bit of magic may have died for him that day. I believe that is t'wot he may be referring. For that I apologise. Anthony
