Hey Losander,
First off, thanks for coming to the Café. I've seen you perform your table at a few magic conventions, and no matter how many times I see it, I am always amazed. A rare occasion these days. Anyways, I know that you love making stuff levitate, but I've never seen you make someone else, or yourself for that matter, levitate. Does this sub-category of levitation interest you at all, or do you like to stick to object levitations? Anything hiding up your sleeve, maybe? I'm dying to know! A fellow levitator, Corey King

Dear Corey,
Good question. Even if most magicians only know me for my levitation stuff, I do much more in the field of magic. I am performing magic since I am 8 years old, and I like any effect that is clear and visual and straight to the point. In other words, I prefer effects where the audience can't get lost if they turn there heads for a second. So the levitation part was only a segment of my full evening show. I used to perform this chair suspension from Yogano. So I invited a person on a chair, and then he or she started to levitate out of the chair. Then, I took a hoop and pulled it over the person. After that, the person landed again. This is very strong in small places like a living room show. What I liked about it is that you did not need to hire an assistant. But when I invented the floating table, it had so much more impact to the audience, so I took the chair out. It is really amazing when you perform the table. After the show, no matter what you did before, everybody talks about the table. I always wanted to levitate myself, but so far except flying, there is really nothing that impressed me so far. I played around with a lot of ideas, but it is hard to make it believable. But I am not giving up on it. Maybe I'll come up with something in the future. |

Very cool. I haven't had a chance to see your show, only the demos of the table...which were fantastic. The chair suspension sounds like a great routine. And yes, since Flying, there has yet to be an illusion that even comes close. But it helps keep you going, trying to come up with ideas that are just as good.
Thanks for the response. I hope to see your full show one day.

You can see my 10 minute routine I perform in 'The World's Greatest Magic Show' in Las Vegas on YouTube under "Losander".

I forgot to tell you. I have created once a very nice levitation, which I am thinking of selling very soon. I performed it for one year in an amusement park in Germany about 10 years ago. So here is what the audience sees: A person gets covered while they are standing on stage. Then, very slowly they start to levitate about 4 feet of the ground. Then the person slowly floats down, and then you rip the cloth away from them and the person has vanished. Now, they can reappear in the audience or somewhere else.
It is an illusion were you do not need a lot of props, just the cloth and that is it. The best part is it does not look prepared at all; looks almost like you would improvise. And so no one expects it from the audience. The floating part looks just as good like my table. So I'll try to find a way to marked it for a good price, maybe by the end of the year. |
