I’m just testing the waters here…..
If.... and I say again “if”.... I were to help put together, a mini-conference (two-days or a weekend) totally focused upon: --Storytelling Magic --Periods & Styles / Character Driven Magic --Haunted / Spooky Magic Within the San Francisco Bay Area, California, maybe Late-Summer or Early-Autumn of 2009….. How many people would ACTUALLY want to participate and attend? It would be an intimate, manageable size, it would feature workshops and lectures, it would have a works-in-progress show, it would feature a dealer’s room, it would have a gala-evening show. I’d try for a boutique feel hotel, maybe Victorian, to set the mood, I’d try to arrange a few included “working” catered meals, I’d try to plan some sort of festive group banquet or dinner. San Francisco is not cheap, but I’d try to keep costs down, this is NOT a money-making venture, just to break-even and session with like-minded mages. AND this would be a one-year, one-shot deal. I think there is a call for this sort of “specialty” gathering, and there is not much on the West Coast to feed this specific genre. Email me your thoughts, ideas, inspirations, or just to tell me to forget the whole thing. Magically, Walt SpellbinderMagic@SBCGlobal.Net |

I think it is a great idea and I would be willing to burn a few frequent flier miles to go.
I will think through some ideas and send you an email.
If you can pull it off in a biker bar without being violated by a corn dog, more power to you.

I think it is a good idea. As long as it doesn't have problems such as a recently held workshop. Depending on the economy over the next few months, I would be interested in attending as long as I didn't have to actually perform. Kicking around ideas would be fun for me.
As far as lecturers/performers, I would surely be interested in a couple of Café members who have some incredible material. Michael Fraughton for one. Christian Chelman, Bob Neale, Burger would also get my vote for fantasy choices. Your no slouch either there Walt. AT |

If you are doing characters - then BDC has got to be booked!
I am also in the planning stages for a small conference in either OCt or Nov 2009 in Nashville. More as it becomes available. |
