Someone recently asked me to do a small act for some church choir kids, there probally around 7-11, but my normal wardrobe would be classified as "emo". (I want to make it clear I am NOT emo) But, I don't want the parents of the kids not to like me because of the way I dress, any solutions?

Black shirt, trousers and proper shoes, maybe even a black tie. I think thatd go well for you.

Does "emo" mean all in black. I feel so unhip.

Thank you for defining emo for me.

Wearing black for choir members kids will make their parents use you as an example of what not to be like when they grow up. If an example of evil is what you want to be then go for it my friend.

How about basic black with a brightly colored tie?! Yellow or purple maybe!

This will make you look much less evil...

I would wear basic black with brightly colored matching tie and suspenders. This will change you from scary to spiffy.

I assume by emo, you are referring to slim fitting clothing; band tee's and form fitting, possibly women's jeans.

If this is your normal style (which is fine), do not go out and buy some basic dress clothing as you will look uncomfortable and out of place.

If you have an H&M near you, you should be able to find very slim fitting jackets and pants (for cheap), so you can dress up without losing the aesthetic that you are probably comfortable with.

You can probably just buy a jacket, and still wear it with jeans, as I imagine budget will be an issue for you.'

The important thing is to look as if you prepared and dressed up for the event, not to look like some generic "professional."

I would say it would depend on your style of magic and what your show is like, kids between 7-11 would think you were a bit 'lame' if you went all formal lol Smile

Do you have a good figure? If so: Naked.
Magic is doing improbable things with odd items that, under normal circumstances, would be unnessecary and quite often undesirable.
