Heya guys,
I'm having some issues getting my new avatar down to 15kb. I'm using Photoshop CS3, and I have resized down to 100 x 100, and even dropped the resolution of the picture down to 72, but the pictures still sit up around 70kb. Can anyone help? Cheers, -- Topher |

Send the original image file (the really big one) to me and I'll get you squared away. |

I've finally managed to get my avatar down below 15KB, but anytime I try and upload it, I get a blue question mark in place of the image in my profile. I've noticed a few members with this issue. Any info or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

It could be that whatever software you are using to create/edit the image is not adding information to the file about the dimensions of the image. The scripts "read" the image file, and if this information is not there, the image is rejected.

Hmm. It might be a problem on the server - or I might got it wrong to - because mine is too a blue question mark.

Jens, change the name of your file and try to upload the image again. Currently your file title is MF_avatar2.jpg
remove the _ between MF and avatar.

Hi guys,
Using Photoshop CS3. I discovered the 'Save For Web' function, and used that to bring the image down to the right size. I'll keep trying. Cheers, -- Topher |

Using a 1K$ program to resize an avatar is just... well Penn and Teller's Showtime program comes to mind.
Every PC shoul have Irfanview. It's free, no spyware, resizes and does some basic image editing, enhancing, slideshows, scanning... Did I mention it's free? http://www.irfanview.com/ |
