Does anybody know if there is a commercial version of this effect made and sold anywhere?
Thanks! |

Haven't seen one. The Box Office effect is based on Ed Mellon's "Quantimental" effect. There is one for sale at the big auction site you might know about.
http://cgi.ebay.com/QUANTIMENTAL-ED-MELL......53.l1262 There are a couple of other effects that are also based on Mellon's effect and a search on the Internet will turn them up. Although not "Box Office", you might be able to modify something to work similarly. Here are a couple of links to get your started. http://www.etrickshop.com/Mental_Magic-ESP_Mental_FT.html http://www.mreenterprises.co.uk/viewproduct.php?id=996 Mark. |

It seems a bit of a stretch to say that Box Office is based on Quantimental.
There may be a certain conceptual similarity, but Waters took the concept in a very different direction, producing a different effect via a different method. R

Rory, while I agree...that comment was taken directly out of the T.A. Waters book under the credits section for the Box Office effect.

Weird.... in any case... go check tricks and effects... someone is asking about the Kirwan Prediction box etc... and I say... get MMM and build your own... you can customize it anyway you want... Egyptian, Gothic, Templar... whatever!

I am in the process of building my own. I was just curious if it was produced and at what cost. Thanks for the replies!

I also checked the credits before I posted, and while he mentions Quantimental, he doesn't claim Box Office is based on it, only that it shares a similar concept, which is "not a new one".
But we're getting off topic. I've never seen one available. Rory

While apparently no longer in production, I believe this is along the same lines as "Box Office"...

I had one made. I presented it as a sweet box, which was nice.

Doesn't the spectator ever get tempted to eat the chocolate? It could be a problem, couldn't it?

Recently came across a ‘jewelry box prediction’ of box office that’s out there for sale, but didn’t feel it was right for me. Does anyone know if there are other versions out there available? In particular the box office deluxe one with the marked stones was very interesting to me but cannot find one available currently.
