First of all, Oz, I would like to say I love your web-site and really enjoy watching you perform. My question is: I perform Bob Kohlers ultimate 3-fly, but I am tired of just bringing the coins out and doing the routine. I would like to do a coin production of the coins, do 3-fly, then find someway to finish by ending clean getting rid of the gaff, can you help me? Also would love to see you do a 3 coin production on your site! thanks eddie

Why don't you figure out your OWN way of producing each coin. Do the U3F routine. Then vansish them one by one in any way you can think of.
Don't worry about ditching the gaff since you are going to vanish the coins. Also the way the gaff is made let"s you handle that unit very openly without any worries. Use your imagination. You shouldn't always rely on someone else to make a routine for you. Do some research, take some ideas from others, and tweak them out to your own style and variation.

Here is a tip - you can use the U3F gaff to make a coin appear or vanish. Use that principle to make coins appear. Cleanly show the one coin, then there is two - reach over and take one of the two coins (really vanishing a coin using the gaff) and push a real coin out of fingerpalm. It looks like you just reached over and took one of the coins. Start playing around with this feature and you can come up with a pretty straightforward sequence.

I'm sorry, full effect. I thought this site was for magicians helping magicians. I've been in this business for a long time now and when other magicians ask for help, I have always been there to help them. For your information, I do have a production and a cleanup but I know I'm not the greatest in the world like some people. I trust other peoples advice, especially on this site. Vernon always said when you think you know it all you need to get out of the business. He also said you should ask for help from others. I'm sorry, full effect, for asking help. I guess you know it all about coin magic, but I will tell you what, I respect everyone on this web-site, and I will continue to ask for help whether you like it or not!
Thanks Dan for your help. That is a good idea! |

And I told myself I wasn't going to post.....
Herd, If you have been in the business as long as you say (and I believe you have) then you know that full effect GAVE you advice. If it isn't what you expected then perhaps you need to be clearer next time in your request. The fact of the matter is, it was good advice. I don't think Full was being mean when he posted his response. He was being honest with you. So many times I have seen magicians on these boards wanting to be spoon-fed routines. When the knowledge they seek is well within their grasp, if they would only think about the answer first. I am not saying this pertains to your unique situation and problem but perhaps Full did. Re-read his post and consider it from that point of view. The questions I would ask you before jumping in with technique or ideas for you would be: What is the effect you want to perform specifically? (What do you see you doing in your head?) Have you worked out the effect you want? Why aren't you happy with your results? What can you do right now to change the result you have to the result you want? How will you measure success? Answer these questions and I am sure the help will be overflowing. Jason |

Thanks Jason, I'm not mad at full effect. I guess I took it wrong and I do agree that some people do want to be spoon-fed. I promise you on my life I'm not that kind of person. I work very hard with my magic as I'm sure all of us on this site do. I was just looking for some ideas that I have been stuck on for a while. Usually I do come up with solutions, and while they may not be the best, they are always original ideas. I have just been braindead on this particular situation and wanted advice. If you knew me personally you would understand that I always try to work things out myself. I apolize to full effect. Guys, just remember next time when I ask for advice I've tried to work something out a million times and have come up empty handed. Just help me as I would do for all of you! We need to all stick together.
thanks eddie |
