I notice that there tends to be a degree of humor to your work. Would you share a little of your approach to comedy, and also it's relationship to magic?

My favorite part of Magic is when people are watching my show and start assuming that because it's funny that they aren't going to be fooled badly - because that's the exact moment you can fool everyone every time.
The Four Legs act is a great example - just when you think you're figuring out the method, it goes a completely different way that fools everyone the first time. Puppet Boy does it in a different way - the audience gets caught up in the weird theatrics trying to figure out where this dark vignette is going and the entire time I've been setting them up for a double twist ending. It's kind of like 'Fight Club' but with killer clowns and machetes. My advice is to watch every episode of things like Monty Python and read every book you can on Magic - if you live your life like that, your show will reflect what you love as a person. |

No, 'Shakes the Clown' was 'Barfly' but with killer clowns and cocaine.
Great movie but no machetes. |

It also has my all time favorite Robin Williams bit in there. He makes for a scary mime.

Of course, best of all is Tom Kenny - (also known as the voice of Spongebob Squarepants) - as the homicidal Binky with his cocaine filled clown nose.
You probably don't remember the controversy this movie caused when it was first released - clowns actually PICKETED the theaters they were so angry. |

Yeah, she still has his greasepaint all over her face when her kid discovers the alcoholic clown in the morning.

And those huge clown shoes can only mean one thing, if you know what I mean.
