Who first came out with the signed card effect between metal plates. Those plates have a bunch of rubberbands to maintain them.
If anybody has a clue ? |

I think it might have Kanters or Max Holden. I know it goes back into the 20's and 30's. I am not very good on foreign companies but it could have come out of Germany or England before that.

Kanter's was selling the New Improved Card in Pocketbook for $8.50 in their catalog #8, published 1947. Presumably, there was an older version.
I'll see what else I can find.

I found in Abbott's #6, 1940 for $4.50. I wonder if National Magic or Brema made this stuff and supplied Abbott's and Kanter's.

National Magic was run out Chicago by Jim Sherman. They had very good directions, routines and equipment. It was later bought by Al Sharpe.

I had a set and forget who made them. For some reason I thought it was Loyd Enochs, but my guess is he didn't created this.
He did (check Rice's encyclopedia) make a special hand dye tube to do a "half dyed" silk (altho he didn't do a HALF, just a portion) before McComb's. Billy's routine, however is what made the trick. I use the Enoch's gimmick along with a Rice Palmo (so you can tell them apart by touch.
