So I am compiling a list of the various basic categories of coin tricks. Here is what I have so far:

Coins Across
-coins across
-coins through table
-three fly
-gadabout coins
-coins to glass, purse, pocket, etc.

Spellbound
-spellbound
-copper/silver transpo

Matrix
-cards and coins
-chink-a-chink

Coins and Silk
-vanishes and reproductions
-penetrations

Vanish and Reproduction
-hanging coins
-exTROYdinary
-miser's dream
-etc.

Coin Box Magic

Specific Gimmicks
-coin in bottle
-$1.35 trick
-Scotch and Soda
-etc.

Transformations
-jumbo coins
-dollar to two halves to four quarters etc.

Mental
-coin in hand
-guessing the date of a coin
-chosen coin has an "X" on it

Keep in mind of course that this is just a sketch of coin magic. I left many things out and I had a tough time deciding which category some things should be in. It was also tough to decide how specific to be.

basically, I'm doing this because I figure that if I can learn one trick from each major category I will have a solid foundation in coin magic with which to build up my repertoire.

please make additions to my list =)

"Things need not have happened to be true.
Tales and dreams are the shadow-truths,
that will endure when mere facts are dust and ashes,
and forgot."

Okay, you might want to add:

Animation:

Coin answers questions by jumping up and down in a glass

Penny dropped into a glass of beer rises to the top

Half dollar set onto surface of drink floats, then sinks on command

Selected Penny of about 20 crawls out of pile

Levitation:

Coin defies gravity by falling up

Coin defies gravity by floating in the air

Invulnerability:

Coin folded into dollar bill is rolled into a tight tube, folded into a small packet, then emerges unharmed.

Coin wrapped in napkin is pierced by pins, emerges unharmed.

Transformation?

Small hole drilled in coin moves freely across the coin to a new location.

Weird Sympathy:

Impression of coin pressed into foil changes from head to tail when coin is turned over.

and then it gets really strange.....consider the Roth formal table routines:

Coins are dropped into a "portable hole" symbolized by a circle of black felt. They reappear in a purse with no bag.

The Sound of coins is caught in a glass and manipulated by the magician. The sound then becomes real.

Rubber stamped images of coins move around on a pad of paper, then become real coins

Coins become permanently fused together when touched to eachother.

Coins penetrate a tiny doll house table, then the table penetrates the table.

that's enough for now. Too specific?
