Evolve629... If you know what the item is, you pretty much know the method. If you're interested in this effect, don't let the "extra" item concern you. It costs under $2 if you can find it locally. If you can't find it locally, you can order from papercrane or ellusionist for $3.50 or something like that.
Ben... Thanks for the PM reply.

The special little something is not part of the secret, and isn't a secret. You are not paying to find out what kind of p*n to use. You are paying to learn how to perform the trick and how to prepare the card. It has a lot of applications and possibilities. I found this one to be worth every penny. Don't buy your special p*n from E, it's easy to find from any art supply store and is pretty cheap. Buy Sleeping Queen because it's actually a really good dvd with some extra bonus tricks as well. I've performed sleeping queen for many people now, and it really gets good reactions. Once you know the method, you'll come up with a ton of your own tricks.

I thought I would clarify that because it wasn't being clearly answered. I would be very interrested to know how someone could sign the original card and have the sleeping queen also signed by spectator. Gimmicked card is prepared before hand, but to say there is no switch is deceiving. Once the queen is asleep you can wake her back up without switching again, but I would really like to know how the spectator's signature can transfer over to the switch. I like this trick and perform it, but let's be honest. The eyes don't slowly open up again either. They open up under cover. "with seconds of prep time go buy a deck from a store and perform the sleeping queen effect or any other effect that uses the prnciple." Make that two decks. |

Watch the vid you can see the eyes opening. Thank you for buying this and performing it too. After the eyes are closed you do not switch that is what I was saying. The important thing is its a dirt simple effect that gets real strong reactions.

I will agree that when performed right, this does get great reactions. Sometimes they just stare at the card and say nothing at all, which in my opinion is the best non reaction you can get. To see them staring at the card with that look of a deer caught in the headlights is priceless. What makes this even better is the endless possibilities you can do with it. Use this idea with gaffed cards for even more possibilities. Oh yay, the gum trick is pretty cool as well.
P.S I stand corrected on one point. You can slowly open her eyes again, right in front of the spectator. |

Whenever I perform for weddings I always have survey/feedback cards on the tables. This is one of the tricks that I do that guests will remark on.
Someone was mentioning a routine where they hypnotize the queen before levitating it. Great idea! It would be great to do with ambitious card, hummer card, rising card, ghost deck, etc. Then as a finally, you wake her up again, and let them keep the card. This will seriously get your creative juices flowing. |

I think it's certainly a fairly significant piece of the puzzle.
Just because an item used as a gimmick is widely available doesn't mean everyone knows that it's what is used. For example, a marketed effect comes to mind immediately that uses something easily found at ANY drug store, grocery store, wal-mart, etc. (I won't name the effect or the item because if you know what it is, you ABSOLUTELY know the secret and method of the effect). If the creator wanted it to be common knowledge what the gimmick was, I don't think that it would be listed as "Sleeping Queen Extra Item" on the website.

So, are you saying that I exposed the special something? Speak up man,:) make yourself clear. If you are indeed accusing me of something please say so, or at least report the post. Don't just quote me and ramble on. I'm not into exposing anything so please make yourself clear. After rereading the posts here, I'm not sure how anyone would know what the special item is. Some people have mentioned where you may buy it, and you yourself mention how much it costs, but other than that I don't see any exposure. If you notice it, like I said, please let me know. It doesn't take much to ask an admin to delete the specific post(s)

My intent is not to pick a fight with you. As anyone who knows me will tell you, that's not my style. I'll just let the record stand on its own and folks can decide for themselves how much information is too much to divulge.

I'm really not looking for a fight either. Considering no one else has mentioned anything and all the posts are still here, I suppose the verdict is out.
However, in the future if you think someone has exposed too much, all you need to do is report the post. I only came to my defense because I'm personally against exposure and it sure sounded like you were accussing me of it by quoting me. All is good though, and I hold no ill feelings. |

Knowing what this is I don't think the gimmick was revealed in anyway. Respect must be kept on Magic Café for the sanctity of the effect, and Magic. However, that said if anyone wants to know how anything is done. Sadly, with enough digging on the net, it can be found. :o(
