Hi guys,
This is my first post so be kind I have recently spent a day busking with a partner at Coombs on Vancouver Island BC, and we had a great time and are planning on returning. The spectators were great and the business owners around the area loved us, it actually up'ed some of their business. I did a straight jacket escape, and it went over extremely well, what I am working on is a fully visible "mailbag escape" in which I will be shackled and locked into a mail bag. (a spectator will recombo the lock). What I am trying to figure out is how to add some suspense to the show. any help would be appreciated. Thanks Guys Rick Luther D Magic |

No, I don't have the "Sponge BALLS" to do a mailbag escape under water. I'm sure that I could get a hose though! I want to find a way for it to be "dangerous", Unfortunately I can still breath in the bag, or I would go with a limited amount of air idea.

I always do this when I am in a bag. I go in wearing handcuffs or some other restraint. once the cuffs are off, I reach a hand out(sometimes with a cuff still on 1 wrist)and paw around trying to reach for something. I always hear a strong crowd reaction when I do this.
Also, is there music? If there is,use time to your advantage. Make the audience wait, let them think you are in trouble.

The bag would act as a balloon, if you went in the water with the opening down. It would stay afloat almost as long as you wanted. Since you're essentially out, before you go in the water, it's very much an acting job.
Once you're in the water, the audience will be right where you want them, holding their breath, getting increasingly panicky. You work it as long as you want, and then come out. Naturally, when you get back on solid ground, you collapse, panting for air. Otherwise, it wouldn't look like work.

If you want to stay dry...tell the audience that canvas traps carbon dioxide and heat. If you are not out in three minutes, you are to be let out, as suffocation will have begun.

WHO knows it does let air through? I know I tell them my body bag is air tight! Why would I tell them otherwise ............ in fact the logic is there with the body bag....... if it was not air tight it would SMELL a h£ll off a lot in the "full body bag" storage room! Afger all corpses don't need to breath!
You coul dhave your mail bag waterproofed - this stops it being breathable! |
