And I might add regarding my sleights... It was the end of a long shoot that I only had a small window of opportunity for. I was also being menaced by a curious wasp.

I'm sure that if he made a sketchy demo with loud music & lots of camera cuts & the effect was unclear...........he would have sold a bunch of them.
If this effect works for him, that is all that matters. I recently bought a DVD by a well known pro, I thought it was C>R>A>P>!!!!!!!!!!!! But, this is the material that this performer uses to make a living. Am I going to take the time to criticize him & point out flaws? No, if it works for him, that's all that matters. One mans garbage is another mans treasure. Mike |

How many Magicians does it take to advertise a trick? Three.. One to steal the trick. One to steal HIS trick. And one to write a good review.

Yes, it is a magic forum.
There are a million tricks a lot worse than this one, why bother taking the time to make the creator feel inferior. I always find it amusing that the people who criticize others the most, don't have anything to offer themselves(be it good or bad).It takes a lot of courage to share your magic with other magicians. It reminds me of the joke- How many magicians does it take to do a magic trick? 100- One to do the trick & 99 to say they can do it better. Mike |

I don't think offending someone is the issue here...
This is just a painfull example of an over saturated market. Where "creators" will put out ANYTHING to make a buck, a name for themselves, or both. Did anyone check out the other effects being sold? Some of the "ideas" being presented are older than dirt. Some are BAD handlings of classic plots. Matthew, if you don't want to research what has already been done then at least run these "ideas" by well read, seasoned magicians before offering them to the community. I am not trying to be a jerk, but you need to hear it! If you can't stand the fire......you all know the rest! |

Hence my "weird" comments. This is no way an attack on character, more so an attempt to let the creator know that these are not marketable ideas.
Peace.

Hey, I have an idea for an effect and want to know what you guys think.
A card is selected (using your favorite method) and then is discovered in a unique place (you find a unique place). Now here is the real kicker, the back of the card also mathces the back of the deck - WOW !! I don't have a video demo yet, but if I did, it would be really cool! |
