My daughter still needs to get a battery pack for Passport. THEY ARE CRAZY EXPENSIVE. Does any one know of a less expensive, trustworthy alternative?
God's grace rocks! It makes a good cups and balls routine look pretty boring in comparison.

You could put together your own battery pack and inverter, but it won't be as convenient.
The power inverter has to be a pure sine wave inverter to avoid damaging the electronics of your Passport. You want to avoid the modified sine wave inverters. This one has been recommended to me for use with photographic lighting equipment and is about as inexpensive as I've seen: http://www.web-tronics.com/30pusiwa12vd.html Then, you need to buy a sealed lead acid battery: http://www.batterymart.com/p-12v-20ah-se......y-2.html Finally, you'll need a charger for the battery. (The place that sells the SLA battery can recommend what you'll need there.) It's still pretty expensive in the end, but will be cheaper than the Fender pack and inverter. I don't think Fender manufactures them anymore (they're no longer listed on their site) so you might have trouble finding one. If this is for a one-time event, you might want to see if you can rent a battery-powered system. The cost of the battery pack and adapters was the reason I ended up selling my Passport and buying a Carvin StageMate. (It has a built-in sealed lead acid battery.) Hope this helps a little. I use a battery sometimes with my Passport.
I bought the converter from Fender and went to a marine store and got a Gel marine battery. (Gel... not liquid.) |

Look around and get the Fender Passport DC converter. |
