I was wondering if anyone has ever tried anything besides lighter fluid that will evaporate more slowly and have the same effect

I have tried any number of things, but the only thing that seems to work well is good old lighter fluid. Part of the problem is the 'open' architecture of most fire wallets. That is the pads that hold the fluid are basically in contact with the air at all times. I have been using personally and selling is called a Jardonnet Wallet. They are not in stock at supplier at moment, but it's a very neat little wallet in that the dodad that holds the fluid closes upon itself and sort of seals off. I have put fluid on it and had no problem 30 minutes later, which is pretty good. Haven't really tested to see how long it will go, but it's longer than any other wallet I have found.
Here's another idea that may work for you: Construct or look for a zip lock bag that will fit your wallet tight without hindering it's removal when needed. Fill pad with fluid and seal wallet in the zip lock bag in your pocket, etc. When you get ready to use it you just unseal the bag a little in advance. I came up with this idea and then didn't have to use it, but it should work to keep the fluid from evaporating too quickly. Either that or you will explode in the middle of your next show. Best,
