End of a summer break I hadn't meant to take ... everybody here has been down with horrible stomach flu - sequentially - so that means 3+ weeks of misery.
But with a new season comes a new episode, at last - interpreting all our genres of show business in music. No, not your cousin, who sends you a cassette hoping for heaps of praise as she caterwauls at someone's wedding - really good music (with links). I think a good song can add to the way we understand ourselves and our loves. Decide for yourselves! Download HERE Links and details HERE |

Oy! I let a podcast get out of here with 5 huge editing glitches!
Fixed 'em, and the replacement file is now a whole lot better to listen to. Sorry. |

There has been some curiosity as to what's in the current episode - is it songs about tattooing and shoving screwdrivers up your nose, or tunes about elephants and clowns?
(Mind you, I had one dynamite elephant song in the Jimmy Zajicek episode, but I was including enough replays already) Here's the playlist, and I commend it to you for a listen: LISA RICHARD – BIG TIME (how to get your name in lights) DAVID KRAUT & MISSI HALE – A DAY JOB AND A DREAM (you perform because you gotta perform) BUDZ – NEW SHOW COME TO TOWN (repeat) (this show plays November 4 only, but the ballyhoo is happening now) REWAKE - CARNIVAL (what more to say? TOM SMITH – EVERYTHING IS DANGEROUS (including screwdrivers up your nose) BIG GEORGE JACKSON – I'M A BIG MAN (repeat) (George the Giant, Bruce Snowden, howya doin'?) JOE NICHOLS – WALMART PARKING LOT (where else do you set up 95% of the time?) DAVE POTTS – FERRIS WHEEL (repeat) (all the charms of the midway) KACEY JONES – APPLES DIPPED IN CANDY (repeat) (I never knew one of these was an aphrodisiac) DAVE POTTS – ONE NIGHT IN THE SOUTH (it all comes down to ... where do you feel at home?) DAR WILLIAMS – CHRISTIANS AND PAGANS (for our renfaire friends) GREG TANNEN - CONEY ISLAND MID-JULY (the joys of a summer afternoon) THE LASCIVIOUS BIDDIES – CONEY ISLAND DAY (and the feeling that it's fading) DAVE KEMPERS – AQUARIUM FROM CARNIVAL OF THE ANIMALS (for the walk back across the lot in the dark) --------------------- See you next episode, when someone else interviews me. |
