What a convention! This was one of the most entertaining conventions I have ever attended. Mike Miller did a fantastic job of lining up talent.
Bob Sheets - most excellent - super nice guy, very entertaining magic - a superb performer Jay Mattioli - great lecture, very creative Eric Anderson - super performer, great personality Tom Craven - a legend in magic and a very personable guy too MacGyver Magic team - both of these guys brought a lot to the performances. They each did their own spots and had me rolling. And the lecture is one to remember. Hank Moorehouse - excellent MC for Friday night. Hay Wire magic - these guys are hillarious. I got to spend some time with them backstage and they were great. Joey the See - he really rocked the crowd. He was really on Friday night. Engaging, entertaining, great character. What I especially liked was when there were some technical problems at the beginning of his show (not on Joey's part) yet he never stepped out of character and never made it a distraction. Super job. Jason Andrews - very polished manipulator - I love the move he does from balls to cards - you have to see it to know what I mean. Steve Daly - he's definitely an outside the box thinker but he knows how to entertain and do his job. He knows the business like few I have met. Last but certainly not least Shawn Farquhar - his awards speak for themselves. Shawn is every bit the performer he is said to be - and a super guy too. Also, congrats to Jason Alan who cleaned up on trophies in the contests. And certainly thanks to Mike Miller, Phil Milstead, John Beinhaur, Beth Sheligo, Eric Lampert (the single greatest stage hand in history) and the rest of the crew who put this together. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Peter |

I agree in that it was a wonderful convention for sure. I had the pleasure to work backstage for the stage contest and each contestant was very professional in what they did and in helping myself and the other stage hands keep things running smoothly and fairly for everyone. GREAT show and performance Peter. =)

What a wickedly GREAT convention! I had such a blast. Bob Sheets lecture was worth the trip ... so was Eric Anderson's ... I am so bummed I missed the McGyver Magic lecture and I was a day late arriving so I missed Tom and Jay's lecture too!
I have to say Peter that seeing your act on the stage at MAES was a real treat. In Louisville the theatre was very large so the smaller details and handling were hard for me to see. At MAES it was so perfect. I especially love the multi color ball phase! Well done ... My hats off to Mike and the Gang who put on a super great event! Cheers, Shawn |

For those who weren't there, Peter Pitchford got a Standing Ovation for his performance, and that performance was well deserving of that Standing Ovation, and so did Shawn Farquhar.
Over the years, I've watched this man grow "in Magic" and loved every performance he displayed. Well done Peter!

I worked with Peter in Canton at the Battle. I, too, was impressed with his performance and demeanor.

This was my first MAES convention and in all honesty it wont be my last. I cannot wait until next year. I have never met such a welcoming group of people in my life.
To begin with, Peter. I told you have the show, I love to perform comedy magic. But my dream would be to manipulate on stage like you do. That was by far the best act I have ever seen and entertaining at the same time. Not only was your stage act amazing but jamming with you was equally good. I have much respect for you and I am glad I was able to leave the convention calling you a friend. Shawn. HAHAHA I have nothing to say man. Speechless. It has been years since I have been that thrilled about magic. The effects you presented inspired me. I have honestly took a better approach to magic since experiencing your performances. My four hour drive home left me with a notebook full of ideas. The one thing that stood out over everything was your enthusiasm for the art. No matter who stopped you, or what question was asked, you had a smile on your face. You are entertaining as hell. If it's OK I will be contacting you in regards to ideas, and help in improving my performance pieces. The one that that made this convention different than any other I have attended is the marketing advice I received from so many. I immediately bought Dennys lecture notes from Denny and Lee's. Constructing and act, marekting yourself and finding out who you are, all of that and more are in these notes. Eric Anderson was another individual I am honored to call a friend. I had a few private sessions over lunch with Eric and he had no problem sharing his sucess with me. The ideas on how to add value to your marekting package were phenominal. There was one thing that upset me about Eric though. He sold out of his lecture notes so fast that I am waiting right now for mine to arrive in the mail. I'm expecting his ideas to triple my success in this business. As for myself. My main goal was to come and compete at this convention. One person my mentor and older brother came years ago and swept the stage, comedy and award of excellence categories. I myself have never performed for magicians before and it was an experience. I work professionally for lay audiences and every joke gets a laugh. Magicians are more concerned with the moves. Its very hard to work this type of crowed but I tried my best. Anyways I was shocked when I won all three. As you could tell from my dress attire I was exhausted from waking up at 6 in the morning and being booted from my hotel at 10. But all in all, it was an amazing convention and I wouldn't' trade it for the world. I hope everyone else enjoyed it as much as I did. |
