Can't help you. I'm bored myself.

I hope Matt comes back soon.

If you can't find something to do...I'll find something for you to do.

That's what my folks used to say.

My parents said that too.

Hey, are we...uh...brothers or something?

@#$%^&! This is my mother's birthday! I'd better go write an email. Hey Vandy, do you know my mother?

It's a good thing that today is John Lennon's birthday, else I should forget my mother is also having a birthday.

I CAN'T call her, being the lazy and forgetful piece of kaka that I am, I missed doing the right thing at the right time. My parents live in Hong Kong, so it's pushing 1:00AM.

And it's her 70th.

I did send her a note last week to be read in her church at a birthday party, so it's not like I forgot she was having her 70th birthday. I just forgot to call her today on her actual birthday.

I'm scum. Smile Smile

Now I'm depressed. I didn't call my mother on her 70th birthday. (And no, I'm not joking about this. Crap. I'm really a sorry excuse for a son.)

Don't be so hard on yourself.

In her mind you gave her the best gift she could have wanted. When the note you wrote was read in church, your mother was beaming with joy and love for her little boy, Stoney!

Call her in the morning and she'll tell you herself.

Well, thanks for trying to make me feel better, but still...her 70th and I didn't even call her.

But you're right: I'll call her tomorrow, and I'll think up some kind of lie about why I didn't call her today.

Is there something to do with time zones that you can blame?

Not really. Had I written down in my calendar, "Jeff, call your mom before she goes to bed!" then I wouldn't have missed it. I could be honest and say I remembered it at 7:00PM. That's probably what I'll do. Lies don't usually work in this kind of situation. It's not like cheating at poker. Smile

What was it that Churchill said about the truth sometimes having to be accompanied by a "bodyguard of lies"? lol!

Jeff you should feel like crap. It's good to sometimes do that. On the other hand, you are probably a very good son, who has done and will do many wonderful things for his mother. Just go do one of them right away.

Yes, I'm definitely gonna call her tomorrow. I don't think it really matters that I didn't call. I think the nasty thing is that I didn't call and put my son on the phone. Her grandchildren are worth three or four times more to her than her children.

So tomorrow, when my son comes home from school, we'll call her and I'll make some pitiful excuse.

I mean, it's one thing to forget. But her 70th?

So Josh: are you still bored?

He's getting heated, I can sense it.

Just a little more provocation folks, and you'll see the end to your boredom.
