"The Saturday Gathering - Café' Rustico, 35th St btwn 5th and 6th Ave, meets every Saturday afternoon--except holiday weekends, betwn noon and approx. 6 PM." Is there a contact person for this event? I've been looking for a magician's group that meets ideally on weekends in Manhattan. From the information above, I assume this is the Café Rustico in Manhattan. Any additional information regarding the above event would be most appreciated. Thanks very much, David

Several magicians meet here every Saturday afternoon, including Wesley James and Sol Stone. A couple of blocks away there is another group of magicians hanging out at Maui Taco (33rd and 5th I think), including Doug Edwards. Its not formal, and there is no contact person.
S.E.M. (The Sun, the Moon, and the Earth) is a sun and moon routine unlike any other. Limited to 100 sets, here is the promo:

Wow Manhattan on Saturday must be like a zoo. I was there last Wednesday, and I can't imagine how many people there are on the street on Saturday. I would love to go, but I work every Saturday. I gusee only a native New Yorker can handle it.

Not to worry. Being a native of Jersey City, which is practically a borough of N.Y., I'm pretty tough when it comes to the NY hustle and bustle. However I admit that part of my wanting to know a contact person is so that I would not have to deal with the crowds only to find no one else there upon arrival. I find the weekend crowds a little easier to navigate through. I walk with crutches by the way, so if I can do it anyone can. LOL

You are a brave man, because my wife and I noticed that there are no slow movers in Manhattan. No old people, no over weight, no cains, walkers, or any sort of physically handicapped people on the subways.

Thanks for the compliment Al, but it’s not about moving fast. It’s about knowing how to dodge and sidestep the oncoming foot traffic and seeing who’s coming at you. You get a sixth sense after awhile when it comes down to it. It’s actually easier to pick out the distracted pedestrian that’s most likely to bump into you nowadays because cells, blackberries and earpieces can clue you in on who to avoid. The elevators in the subways are highly undependable, so most sane disabled folk stick to taking cabs or buses.
That said, my wife and I are planning to move to Pennsylvania sometime next year. We’re ready to leave city life behind after 45 years for some relative peace and quite. We have family and friends in East Stroudsburg and Canadensis, so we plan to settle somewhere in that general area. There’s plenty of magic in PA from what I’ve read in this forum. You’re not far from The Mingus Magic Shop in Reading, maybe I’ll see you there some day soon. All the best, Dave

East Stroudsberg is quite a ride from Reading, but south east Pa., south Jersey, and Delaware has hundreds of magicians, and five magic clubs if you count Reading.

Yes, It's true that Pa. is quite large. I'll need to get my magical bearings when I settle there. Still, I can see myself making the more than occasional trip to Reading since its a magic hotspot. I can't wait!

Hi John,
Sure, at Café' Rustico. I see you made your post count disappear. That's some trick John. If you're new, welcome to the Magic Café. If not, you're still welcome. Dave
