A new exploding light bulb version.
I was thinking of getting it, sounds quite interesting but would like to get some opinions on it first. Anyone care to review this? any comments would be appreciated! here is a demo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSYICBAAn3E

I have used it in my last three shows, the reactions are good, you do have to be careful though, because even though it is in the bag and sealed so to speak small bits of glass do escape from time to time. I would not do it up close and personal like in their face. about three feet is working for me.

I didn't bother getting this one. I used Mesika's gimmick for years until I found ***********'s PK lightbulb in his "Delusions" book. It's simple and brilliant. And Scott came up with the best way to make the bulb light...any bulb. Plus the book has some other very strong material.

I have this one, and I like it, I feel that it is a lot messy than the alternative.
Overall I will say I like it a lot but you can’t put the bag on the clip in front of them. And it looks a lot more deceptive from the front and not quite as good from the side. |

Thanks for all the comments! That really helps!

My take on it is: I will never perform the coin in the bulb effect.
It may be me or my gimmick but it is not reliable at all, the coin can prematurely appear, and that’s a bad thing when you have an unbroken bulb and a coin in the same bag. The coin part of this effect is a definite NO! for me. |

Hi, can the gimmick for Big Bang be made to do something else such as break a wine glass as David Blaine did on his Vertigo special? If not what do you get or do to accomplish the Blaine effect with the wine glass? Thanks

Magicguy88,
Don't worry. I have used this one since released, and I can easily put the bulb in the bag and clip it. Look at the instruction video and you can see him doing it naturally or you can find your own ways to it. Most of all it's easiest magic with great reactions. You should continue the order. Ejay |

Have you guys heard that the European Union is banning incandescent light bulbs? I haven't tried exploding an energy saving light bulb yet. For European magicians, this trick will cost $8 a pop unless you stock up now.

Mmmm ejay Park, I am not sure how your getting the bag on the clip while people are watching. PM me I like to hear how you do it. I tend to agree with Mysterious, its tricky to get the bag on right and having people watch me do it would be a real gamble. You get it on wrong and glass could fly out of the bag. I think its a cool effect BUT must (at least I have to) set it up in advance.

I bought Big Bang and sold it a week later, very disapointed that it was so dificult to get the bag onto the clip, very fiddly to do, and not very well made IMHO.
Also here in the UK the type of bulb it uses is now obsolete and very dificult to buy. I also have and love the Bazar De Magia Boulevard 54 glass smasher, its a book that you place a wine glass onto, it has a timer, and smashes the glass while I am over the other side of the room, well away from it, this really freaks people out bigtime, - the only downside is clearing up the broken glass, but the effect is well worth that little inconveniance. craftsman made and high tech. I've performed the trick many times and found it always gets a great response. The trick lightning even gives it an even stronger look. Yet I agree that it seems more pratical to set it up before hand as there is to much fummbleing around trying to put the clamp on in frount of your spectators. If it was just a plain clamp like your presenting it to be it would take nut a fraction of a sec to place it on and only one hand . it just fails in my eyes to look real inthe spectators eyes.
