Yes, but it would require good audience management. Actually I don't think having it signed means much to laymen.

Agree...You give out the chain and they inspect everything..No need to sign...

Can someone please tell me what this has to do with Rich' Ferguson's effect "Serial Biller"? On his DVD, Rich says the part where writing appears on a spectators arm is from the "Tagged" video, but I don't understand how the card linking to a chain around your neck is related to a serial number appearing on someones arm. I don't get it.
Can someone please de-confuse me? Is this "appearing serial number on arm" a bonus effect on the Sanders DVD?

Sanders and Ferguson both have DVDs called "Tagged" that were released about the same time. Ferguson's teaches how to make writing appear on a spec's arm. Sanders' is the chain thing.
Separate products with the same name. The Ferguson Tagged was released through Ellusionist. Kevin

Thanks for the clarification!
I guess in the back of my mind I was thinking "Guys always check out the market before they release a new product so that there will not be two identical titles running around." This is one instance where it must have slipped by.

Now today as I view the Ellusionist's site, I see both effects by both artists displayed side by side! Spelled exactly the same way.
These two guys must really be true friends!

I have this and it's not something I would perform. The problem is it is a one hit effect IMO. You must use the same card unless you switch it out for a second set of gimmicks. So, you have a chain around your neck, gimmicks to manage, etc. It is a lot of "stuff" for one trick. 1-10 I give it a 5.

This is one of my most performed effects. It's visually stunning, easy and addictive to perform. A worker? Mmmm, I use it strolling only because I've come up with a cool on-the-fly reset. But I can see how some ppl view it as a one hit effect. I usually have double back (Jon Allen) on top, the tagged gimmick in the middle ready to rock (obviously ditching gimmicks as I go), then I get in to "Turning Blue" (Dan Harlan) with a DB'er that they haven't seen yet that I control to the top. I use this every day because I still get butterflies in my stomach when I do it on fron of the mirror. It's always a hit! If you don't have this you'll be doing yourself a huge favor by picking it up. My favorite part (after the impalement that is) is handing it out for examination right away so they can see, touch, pull and pry at it, further confirming the impalement.

I have found that because I only perform in a suit and tie this tagged has been of no use to me,I love the effect but it's not worth the drama for walk around .
Another impulse buy,dam ,one day I'll stop doing that.lol

When I'm in a suit and tie it does become an issue. However I did do it in a suit and tie last week. I literally just loosened my tie and dangled the chain over my dress shirt going on this beautiful patter about how my buddy was in the army and he gave me this special dog chain that he found buried. When finished I simply tightened my tie, did up my top button and was ready to rock. The effect packs way too much of a punch to let a few secs of loosening and tightening a tie get in the way .. IMO of course. Having said that .. I also don't use this for walk around all the time. But, I do use it in ANY other situation (which is A LOT!!) Closeup shows, b-days, friends, family, etc. Jon, Im sure you do more than walk around right? I wouldn't consider this a bad impulse buy at all. Just my $0.02.

Fair enough ,but for me,I like to stay well presented at all times. For walk around the reset is horrible, and as you know unless you make a ton of them every time you perform it ,the same card is impaled each time.
Sure it is great used once a gig, (mabe for the person that has hired me and it is left with them as a souviner)but resetting is to fiddely in a crowed room, and for me leaving the room to reset any trick is out of the question. And at gigs walk around or table to table / roving there is allways some one who will say "could you please show so and so that trick with(what it may be)as he hasen't seen it yet" If it's Tagged they are requesting, well you get what I'm saying, great trick but it is so easily replaced by something just as strong with no reset issues. On the same subject (suit and tie)Any card to spectators wallet is a no go for me as well dressed that way. Both Tagged and ACTSW rock in a casual setting:eg no tie but I choose to only perform magic in a suit and tie,I am paid well so I dress well.I have learned the hard way ,as most of us have regarding impulse buying (typed with a smile on my face)Every thing I now purchase is done so with my suit n tie kept in mind. I'm sure we all have really good tricks put aside,(that bottom draw thingy)as they say "different strokes for different folks. So many choices ,so little time.lol. Jon

I often wait until the noise dies down on an item. Sometimes it's to get real world reactions from others, sometimes it's because I'm working on something else, sometimes I get hit with inspiration that matches up with it. Sometimes I'm broke
A few weeks ago I purchased TAGGED from another performer, and I have to say I've had more fun with it than anything I can recall. There will be talk about reset, table hopping restrictions, etc. Whatever. For me, when the situation is right, it blows the head off of the spectator(s.) I always view audience reactions seen in mfg demos with a grain of salt... well, I see them when I show TAGGED. I am more than motivated to make however many necessary to "mix it up." So, if you have an opportunity to add something that others aren't (still) doing, I would highly recommend TAGGED. |

I got this in a sale recently and think its a great effect. The reactions it gets are really strong. I sometimes give it away if I am working a birthday or wedding etc. I think the extra work is a orth it.
By failing to prepare, we are preparing to fail.

I have a problem with forcing a card, using the method suggested by Sanders : the riffle force. That' not my preferred force, I don't even like it. And when it's the gimmicked card I need to force, the handle of the deck is very awkward to me, and I don't feel comfortable. So, I'm using Mathieu !@#$%'s force and another force I don't know the name but it's similar to the cross cut force in its principle but no need of a table. Anyway, if anyone here has another idea for forcing that card, let me know (I know a lot of forces, and I happen to like just a few of them). I really like the trick, just don't like the force(s) I'm forced to use.
People usually asks me to redo the trick, as they like it, but I refuse, saying it's doable when some conditions are fulfilled, otherwise it will flash. I usually wear two dog tag chain, since it's umconfortable if I wear more of them. And I use the same forced card, or otherwise, it will take more pocket space, and I don't want to damage the piece of pl****c. So I understand it has restriction, but the effect is so good that I didn't regret buying it. |
