Hi All
I need your help. I am doing a Fire-Eating act in a few weeks at a local fest and I don't have enough to fill the time slot. I would like to work some magic into the act but I don't know what fire effects to use. I was thinking Flaming Torch through arm or Apollo's Torch but I am not sure it will be long enough. Your views? Luke

Any effect can go on for as long as you can maintain or increase audience interest.
Personally, I think that too much fire is too much fire. I like to focus my fire to be the attention getting intro, or the stunning climax. And I fill with other kinds of magic. But that is my style, and I realize that you will be at a fair, and your act will be all about fire. The torch thru arm, even a flaming book, when telling a "hot tale" can go for as long as you want. I don't know how much time you are trying to fill, but if it is a lot, you have some work to do, and magic tricks alone won't do it. I suggest for filling time, finding another way to entertain over the needed time. Entertain. Tell a story. Do some jokes. Explain the perils. Use it to build for your main performance. I saw a tape (Gazzo Unleashed) of Gazzo doing nearly 15 minutes on a "dive to death" while leaning over a bucket of water. It was 15 minutes of pure entertainment, and very little magic. And that was before he actually stuck his head in the bucket! You are asking for specifics, and this is not what you asked for. And you may already know all of this. But I think you can weave a tale of interest, intrigue, and entertainment, around anything. And what better than fire. Talk about the Salem Witch trials. Spike it with a flaming Book, at just the right moment. Tell a tale or two. And then do good magic. My problem is never that I have too much time. It is always that I have to end before I really want to stop. Time really does fly when you are having fun. Engage and involve the audience and let them help you fill the time. BroDavid

Hi
Thanks. That is great advice. I guess if I had sat down one afternoon and just thought it would have came to me. Thanks again. I have a flaming book, I can use that and I also found a fire effect where you produce a flaming torch from a newspaper so I will use those two. Thanks for the help, Luke
