I think this is the right Forum to post this.............
Last night I performed "The Insurance Policy" Card effect. I perform it as I learnt it from Ammar's ETMCM, many moons ago. For those that don't know the effect, at one stage of the performance, the spec thoroughly shuffles the cards, and you reveal their card by turning over the top card on the tabled deck. The card is the WRONG one, so as the plot goes, you have to refer to The Insurance Policy. Well I turned over the top card, and it was the RIGHT card!!! What are the odds? (Don't answer that!). I don't know who was more gobsmacked, me or the Spectator. Have you guys ever had this sort of ......lets call it luck. Chris

Oh yes, I was once doing a card trick and lost the card the spectator selected. I had no clue of what card they selected. I shuffled them a couple of times, stalling trying to think of an out, and when I tapped the deck on the table to square up the edges, the spectator let out a war whoop. Their selected card was the bottom card of the deck and they thought I was doing the reveal.
"Now here's the man with the 25 cent hands, that two bit magician..."

I was just messing around with some card stuff and did not force a card or use any 'techniques.' I just had the person pick a card.
I named a random card the person freaked out and threw the card on the table. I was as surprised as they were. Never have I been able to duplicate the trick. '6 of hearts' is the first thing out of my mouth every time I see the person. -Matt PS: 900 posts!!! Just a bit more till I hit 1000!

I was doing Kollosal Killer one time for a person who was with a group of friends. When I have the person visualize the card, I always look them straight in the eye, and ask, "Are you thinking of the Ace of Spades?" If not, then I say, "Good, everyone thinks of the Ace of Spades; in fact, don't think of any aces at all." Then I go on with the regular effect. However, if they say yes, then I've just performed a miracle in their minds.
On this day, when I asked this guy if he was thinking of the Ace of Spades, not only did he say yes, but everyone else at that table started screaming out, "That's what I was thinking of too!!!" It was great! Brian |

I had that happen to me before, and thought I got lucky. One week later, it happened again. A few performances later, again. It was happening to me more than I was able to do the real effect. I put a breather in the card to stop that from happening!
I was able to use it as an out once. A spectator called out the wrong card, I know because I peeked it. Which card did he say was his? The reveal for my policy. That one was priceless. |
