Can anybody tell me if the use of a small chunk of silver has ever been used before in coin magic? By chunk, I mean the size of the cork for cylinder and coins. I have had this idea to visually crush a piece of silver into a coin. Anything close to it would work. Anything that can lead me to it to see if this is original.

Thanks. My method seems a little bit easier but I will work on it.

A wadded sheet of tp, a penny, a ring, a lifesaver candy all yes - a crushed/crumbled coin - not so far.
Does the coin crushing overshadow the rest of the routine? Anyway in magic you're expected to find your own props etc so your tricks become more organic to your performing character so keep up the good work.

The crushed coin approach is novel as far as I know. The other items, from charms to candy to rings and pennies and even a crumpled sheet of toilet paper have been other folks little ways of adding some personality to the trick. The version in the Bertram Book uses a small die.
I was wondering if the effect of crumbling a coin might overshadow the CnC trick.

I don't recall if it was a piece of chunk silver or a ring. Curtis Kam did a routine at WMS about 3 years ago, using something like that. Wasn't crushing a coin, but I recall a ring and a chunk of silver. Why not PM him and ask.
"Now here's the man with the 25 cent hands, that two bit magician..."

Cool. Thanks for the top Father Photius. I will be contacting him soon about it.

Johnson, I believe, produced a trick called the mint. You took a silver cube, rolled it into a ball, smashed it flat into a disk and then turned it into a half dollar.

One Man, That was posted above as well. I think that seems a bit too.. idk exactly what to call it. It just doesen't seem practical for me in my situations.
