I'm trying to plan out my Christmas mailing for NEXT YEAR - 2009.
Becuase I'm just a part-time entertainer, I just don't have the time to call companies and get the names of the people who are in charge of entertainment for any particular company. So, this means I usually address my envelopes to the attention of EVENT PLANNER or ENTERTAINMENT COORDINATOR. While I've done OK with this, I wouldn't say I'm setting the world on fire either. My real question, however, is if I'm in the children and family entertainment market, what venues should I be targeting for my Christmas holiday mailings? This is who I currently mail to right now: Clients who have booked me in the past Museums Fraternal Organizations Chamber of Commerce groups Tourism groups Businesses Firemen's Halls Community Organizations Art Councils Recreation & Park Councils Clubs - Country clubs, etc. Hotels Banks Caterers Based on your past experience, am I missing any important groups? It just seems odd that I've been mailing to some of these groups for years and I never hear a peep from some of them. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Gerry mail to groups now for next year, Christmas 2009. |

I usually address the envelope to Human Resouce director/ coordinator if I don't have the actual name. I have done fairly well with this. A couple of other markets might include churches, retirement homes (many of theses have family Christmas parties), other businesses. I have don wal-mart in my area for a few years now. They have changed to a family event instead of just employees. When you do your mailing, you should do a sequence of three mailings, not just one letter. Maybe a teaser letter then a sales letter then a followup post card, I have found that some places may get the original letter and forget about it and that second or third mailing reminds them to call. Just a bit of info I use and it seems to work pretty well.
