There are a lot of lurkers.
I'm sure anyone who posts here would share with Kim because he's shared so many videos. But if you look at who is monitoring the Gambling Spot, there are a lot of people who watch the area that have never posted here, have never expressed any interest openly about gambling stuff, and in a lot of cases never even expressed interest in cards or dice or anything like that. And frankly, it's none of their business. Youtube is the most convienent for most people. It would be easy enough to add people to private viewings there. I think you can allow 50 people to view a private video as long as they are on your "buddy list" or whatever they call it.

AMcD...you misunderstood me. I wasn't doubting that you got 66 viewers. I was saying that they weren't necessarily Café viewers, which means you have another audience in addition to the Café. Which isn't important, I guess. It just means that you're getting a lot of traffic very quickly...which is neither good nor bad.
I'll check you out, well, elsewhere. |

Well I hardly understand all those discussions about keeping "secret", "private" or refraining the number of viewers for those videos.
What is "secret" about a second deal, a bottom deal, a table faro or a couple of stacking moves? Those videos don't even explain the move and only show it from a certain angle. And there are hundred of magic books detailing those sleights. Posting a video on all those well known sleights should not be pointed as something "secret". That's ridiculous and only serves as a way to create an artificial buzz. That kind of video should be a way of emulation, showing one's hability, skilful or for receiving comments and critics for the one who wishes to attain some form of "perfection". Everything else is just plain ego. By the way, I don't believe perfection with a given sleight of hand is what makes it "superior" or "a parfect weapon" at the card table. |

You're probably right h20.
Still, sometimes posting videos is like you're sitting at a table with a couple of friends, playing around with cards or whatever, and all of the sudden you look and there is a group of 50 people standing around, hawking you. lol! It's not so much that the stuff is "secret".

Well Vandy, when we talk in an open forum like this one we have to accept that hundred of unknown people read our conversation. What should we do? Use PMs? On the Internet everyone has to decide what should be said, talked or posted. It's sometimes not an easy task I agree

I hear ya. Everyone has to figure it out for themselves.
But I can't bust on anyone for pulling a video down. It's theirs after all, and no one owes anybody anything. I used to post video, then I just quit doing it for the most part. I just didn't like having it out there and "exibitioning" for everyone and their brother. At the same time, I like looking at everyone elses video. So maybe I'm a hypocrite. In this case I can live with it.

When I learned my moves, there was no video to help me. Not that many. I've learned the main part alone and with some guys help. So, I never complain when someone shows something. There's always something to grasp. Even if the guy is not that good.
Books? Books won't help you that much. They are useful, mandatory sometimes, but not enough. A video helps because you see the move. Both are needed. I speak for my own, but I'm sorry boy, I owe nothing to none. I understand you find my way stupid (and it is) but I do how I feel like to proceed. Again, I would have been very pleased ten or fifteen years ago to watch videos. Even short in length. Even "private" or scarcely shared. Really, I don't understand why guys are complaining. Guys like Z post true wonders sometimes. Just be aware that sometimes we had to pay to get some knowledge whereas when we post a video here it's for free. Anyway, on the other site, I'll keep my videos online for 24 or 48 hours now. If some find them useful, they'll be happy about that. Me I'd like to see less complaints and more guys posting stuff. No offense guy, keep cool, but I don't like to read guys complaining when I'm offering something for free. Hence, I write it . See you on GaF? |

Well "boy", I'm not complaining. I'm just expressing my opinion on this discussion about one's purpose to post a video and who and what should gain of doing so.
Once again, in my opinion watching videos is not a proper way to learn a sleight. It's just a way to favor emulation. And I think that if you want to practice those sleights for a real game, then you'll learn that experience is your best teacher, not videos or books. |

Ha! I remember seeing that story. Someone said, I don't remember if it was here, that that kind of thing isn't completly uncommon in Vegas. I guess a lot of people have actually tried to offer drugs to the dealer as a bet.
You gotta be half a retard to pull a stunt like that.

While what MagicKim is saying can't be contested really. He wants quality critique and why not. However when I chance upon a good video it becomes my source of inspiration and I learn a lot studying it. Videos of Mr. Z, Unknown419, Clock, MagicKim, 900nm and others have inspired me to great extent. Now I am not good enough to offer any advice that can in return help these gentlemen take their moves to the next level. However I feel that being part of a community also means helping a novice find the right path. Surely guard your gold and share discretely but I hope sometimes you guys will feel generous enough to dazzle us with a bit of silver !
