Hey Group,
I've been developing effects for years now, and I really want to give back to the community. I have copied the first of many effects I want to share. While I have been doing this effect for awhile, and it has a little bit of arts and crafts, it is well worth it. Any input is appreciated, otherwise, have fun with it! Effect: The magician is enjoying a meal at a local fast food restaurant. He asks somebody to select a card from a shuffled pack. It is remembered and returned to the deck. The magician attempts to cut to the selected card numerous times. Every attempt fails. In a final hint of frustration he reaches over to a sauce packet which has been sitting on the table in full view the whole meal. When the magician asks the spectator to open the packet, inside is not sauce, but instead his selected card, folded up. The Setup: The next time you are out to eat at your favorite fast food restaurant ( The famous one that starts with an M has sauce that works best for this trick), steal a couple each of their different sauces. At home, remove the tops, rinsing the sauce out thoroughly. Make sure the inside and the lid are completely clean, and allow to air dry. If both are not rinsed completely, things can begin to get funky, trust me, I know! Once the containers are dry, you are ready to make the gimmick. You will need two decks of the same color backing (2 red backed decks for example) for the setup. Take any card (you will later force its duplicate), and fold it up into sixteenths. Place this into the sauce container, and carefully rubber cement the lid back onto the sauce packet. Allow to dry overnight. If making multiple sets, make a small label of each card inside, by writing it on a small piece of paper and taping it to the bottom. This will help later down the road! Presentation: As you are having lunch with a friend, notice what kind of sauce they are using (bbq, sweet and sour, you know the drill), and grab that duplicate sauce container. At some point you will need to switch the packets. Because the clerk will give you more than one packet, and because your spectator doesn’t know what you’re doing, the switch out is not hard. Ask the person if they would like to see a trick. Force the duplicate and ask them to return it to the deck. Control the card to the top of the deck. Perform a double lift asking spectator if it is their card. They will reply no, put the double away in a pocket. Turn the deck face up showing the face card, asking if this is their card. Again they will reply no. Remove this card and put it in the same pocket. Explain that if the card is not on the top, or the bottom, it must be somewhere in between. Attempt to cut to their card. As each attempt fails, appear more frustrated. Offer them the deck and ask them to find their card. When they fail to find it, ask them to open up the sauce packet. Inside is their card, and you’re clean. |

Thanks for sharing! I really like the idea of the card showing up in the sauce packet.
However, I may change the presentation a bit and have the card vanish via the biddle trick and then reappear in the sauce packet. But thanks again for the nice idea. |

Hey PBG,
Nice idea and nice effect. Now if we can come up with a way to make it a signed card then that would be crazy.

Hey pbg739,
Thanks for the idea. Nothing terribly original there, but still a fun idea. This section of the forum is for IMPROMPTU MAGIC. That means NO SETUP. Also this goes over a method so it should have been posted in the SECRET SESSIONS area. Thanks, Mark Storms
Find out what you cannot do.., Then go and do it!
