I am changing registers do to continued problems with my current one. For example, have not been able to transfer, paid for hosting and never recived it, and the list goes on.
Heres the question. Since I have to purchase a new domain name, do you think that http://www.tmoct.info sounds any less profesional than http://www.tmoct.com. we are having a heck of a discusion with a few people I work with over which one would be better. Some say that .coms are to clichie and that more people would rember .info cause its not heard of alot, and that it would add charcter to my domain name, others say that .info sounds unprofesional. what do yal say?

Personally, I don't care for .info. However, I have purchased variations on my site (.tv, .biz, .cc, .info), so that I own them.
Two quick questions, without getting too personal: 1. Are you actually losing ownership of the DOMAIN name? Or just the hosting? 2. Are you sure you want to stick with TMOCT? Please don't take offense to this, but it doesn't roll off the tongue like http://www.cristopherthomas.com. I understand what TMOCT stands for, but at first glance it doesn't look as 'good' if that makes any sense. Plus I see you still own that name until at least January. Sorry if this gets deep into something you'd rather not share. I'm just looking at it from a "domain remembering" point of view of a generic person. Scott |

Yeah, well here's the problem. I bought the domain name with registerfly, now regfly. I paid for hosting through regfly twice and never recived any information on how to host the sight (never had problems like this from other hosts). Second I tried to transfer the domain name from Regfly to my new register and host, but REGFLY is not responding with the transfer code or number or whatever it is, so I was going to forfeit it. Now if I wanna use cristopherthomas, it would have to be cristopherthomas.info on my new register and I would loose cristopherthomas.com
hope that makes sense Posted: Dec 16, 2008 4:10pm So would cristopherthomas.info sound cheap

I don't think I would use the word cheap at all. But that sounds better to me than tmoct.
However, I'm only looking at this from a "what's easiest to remember" when a client asks for your website. You could even make the .info part of your pitch. "For info on me, go to info. Cristopher Thomas .info." (Like Bond. James Bond). Or get a .tv domain, with the hopes that you could host lots of video clips of you and it is your "broadcasting from Cristopher Thomas .tv" And depending on your energy, I'd really pursue getting your name. Unless they had a clause in there that they own the name. I know a LOT of companies did that years a go (and maybe still do). They take care of all the "details" of unsuspecting website owners by buying the domain name and hosting and doing all the 'tech stuff', and in the process, ended up controlling the fate of that domain. That's why I use Register.com to buy my domains. GoDaddy is just as reputable, too. Just my two cents. I'm really sorry you're caught up in that. I wish you the best outcome. Scott |

I think I read where regfly was having trubbles...keep trying to transfer it if you still want to keep it.
The truth is, most everyone forgets domain names anyway...probably because we're flooded with them all day and night from online and television ads. You may want to start a new thread for domain suggestions for your site. However, members here will probably come up with tens of thousands

Great news. we got the transfer to go through, we are now on Godaddy, and have a great hosting plan with them, should have the new site up in a week. I had to get a new web desginer, but oh well, but I am glad to be away from REGFLY.
