Since 1995, I have been using a variation of Michael Skinner's Ultimate 3 Card Monte in an ultra jumbo size (7" by 10") along with a stand I devised to make it possible to perform with these large cards on stage or platform settings. The stand has the added advantage of turning the gaffed cards into normal looking cards for the beginning and end of the routine. I finally got around to writing it up and making some modern (2008) modifications on building the stand. You'll find it on my site in The Wizards' Journal #17. The e-Book contains the plans for making the deceptive stand, plus templates and instructions for printing out your own ultra jumbo cards for the Monte. It also includes my special handling that I devised for slight modifications while using the jumbo cards. If you have always liked the Michael Skinner Ultimate 3 Card Monte with regular playing cards, you now have the option of performing it on stage.
Posted: Dec 18, 2008 6:48am We have just decided to manufacture the Ultra Jumbo Cards for this routine for those who are uncomfortable with the idea of making them on their home computer printer, or who don't have the ability to do so on the equipment they have. The information is on my site along with the description of the Jumbo version of the effect: http://www.magicnook.com/WizJ17/wizj17-07.htm Professor Spellbinder Posted: Jan 16, 2009 12:18pm Addendum 1/16/09 Jim Gerrish came up with an envelope switch that may appeal more to those who require portability and don’t want to build and set up a table stand to convince the audience that the cards are normal. It has been included as an addendum to this e-Book. All former purchasers of the effect should have already received the revised e-Book that includes this addendum, and if not, please contact me at magicnook@yahoo.com

Harry Anderson produced "Monarch Monte," which is not the same as the "Ultimate Monte." Monty Python produced the "Full Monte," but that's another story.

Spellbinder, my issue with MSUTM is that the Ace ALWAYS switched position w/ the trey. My solution is to use two treys.

If going that route, the Dutch Looper has a better ending, because the finale has all cards becoming identical and the different card disappears. The way I work the Ultimate Monte routine with Jumbo Cards, the Ace seems to switch position with either the trey or the two; sometimes it ends up on one end, and sometimes in the middle. Posted: Nov 11, 2009 7:53pm Wiz Kid Qua-Fiki just posted a demonstration video showing his variations on Jim Gerrish's envelope, plus his sit-down stage version using a Tray Mate II and other subtleties. It's on my site in The Wizards' Journal #17 INFO section for the Jumbo Ultimate Monte. He also made an explanation video that purchasers of the e-Book can access on request. Qua-Fiki's version will be added to the e-Book and sent out to all previous purchasers as well.
