Hi!
I wanted to know if one usually tips strolling magicians at a restaurant. What is the tip like? It will be at the dinner we go to before seeing Harry Anderson perform. Ellen harryandersonfan.com New Orleans--My wallet is bust! |

I think for a good performance $5 for a table of four is a good tip, if you really think it is exceptional $10 isn't out of the question.
Whether they can accept the tip is another matter. It never hurts to offer. Jason |

IMO it depends on the rating of the restaurant, the clientele it draws, the quality of the entertainment and how much time the magi spent at your table. Keeping all those factors in mind only you can decide
what's appropriate. I recently took a few friends to Malone's magic bar. We tipped one magician $5- and we tipped the other magician $15-. Same bar...just different levels of entertainment.

Let them decide for themselves how much they want to tip. If they ask you how much they should tip you just say what ever you feel comfortable with.

Ellen,
Please clarify whether you're the spectator or the magician. Tor Egil wrote on Apr 29, 2003: Let them deside for them selfs how much they want to tip. Last time I saw a strolling magician was Mike Close in Vegas and both myself and another guy we were with tipped him $20 a piece...LOL...but, then again, he performs in a bar and I think that may have had just a BIT to do with it. That and the fact that he was AMAZING.....
:)
