I'm still new-ish to more advanced card magic (really not much past the rank beginner stage), so I am probably not up on all of the technical lingo and nomenclature.
But I have a copy of a book ("Riffling the Pasteboards Again" by Ken Simmons, 1987) which throughout refers to "X cards" (without ever defining same). So, what is meant by an "X card"? From the context, I'm *guessing* that *maybe* it simply is an alternative way of saying "indifferent card(s)" -- but I'm not sure. I've not run across this before in my admittedly narrow reading. Can anyone clarify? Thanks!
For a supernatural chiller mixing magic (prestidigitation, legerdemain) with Magic (occultism, mysticism), check out my novel MAGIC: AN OCCULT THRILLER at http://www.amazon.com/Magic-Occult-Thriller-Reed-Hall/dp/1453874836

You're right, it's an indifferent card.

The question may have been better posted in the 'New To Magic" section.
Ken Simmons writes some clever stuff, but from your admitted:"I'm still new-ish to more advanced card magic (really not much past the rank beginner stage), so I am probably not up on all of the technical lingo and nomenclature" there are probably many more suitable books out there. With the amount of material so readily available these days and things 'touted' as best books to buy, regardless of the readers knowledge or skill level on forums such as this, books which are brilliant for one can be valueless for another. There is no logical progression from A to Z. Maybe you should also check out books like Fulves's Self Working Card Tricks, Giobbi's Card College Light etc. Paul. |

The question is equivalent to "Which key is the any-key?", sometimes asked by computer newbies. Some things are only obvious after an explanation

Card college volume's 1-5 will take you all the way from complete beginner to expert. Volume 1 is a much better place to start than card college light....
