The Real Hustle Shoe Switch.
What do you guys think to The Shoe Switch shown here about 26 minutes into the film? http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00g6fmj PS Also while I am thinking about it, I would like the whole series in a DVD box set, as I love the show, but I can't seem to find them on sale. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The......episodes

Where did they get the casino's cards?

This will not work in today's casinos....but, it may work in a local vegas night....the idea was taken from a real life scam from 40+ years ago in vegas.
The story I heard is too long to go into here...but, it resulted in casinos using a chain to attach the shoes to the table and to have a casino chip embossed into the back of each shoe. It is possible that the story is so old that casinos forgot and are slacking off on security....or maybe as more casinos open throughout the world...they simply don't know the scam.... Regardless, this is an old idea

Hikeeba, the casino gave them the cards........it's a TV show
BUT....in real life, they may have bribed the guy making minimum wage in the back room who cancels decks to put on sale in the gift shop to slide some uncanceled decks their ways..........or perhaps the guy who moves the cards from the delivery truck to the cage has huge gambling debts he can't pay off..........or he's got a drug habit to maintain..............whatever, you get the idea? |

At least the turn didn't involve someone with a Superman outfit jumping on top of the table yelling "I think I can fly!"

From what I remember of the original story that scammed several casinos...the "misdirection" was a fight on a nearby table.
Multiple casinos were hit in a single day within several hours....then the team disappeared into the woodwork. The idea was that they knew they were going to get caught on the cameras...But, they also knew that that would take time..especially to communicate the scan down the Vegas strip....especially 40 years ago....all they had were telephones and primitive video tape.

Movement and noise certainly are the two that first come to mind, but you'd have to be a pretty green blackjack dealer to cock your head sideways away from the table and the tray for a couple of girls speaking in loud voices. |

I knew one young croupier who switched a shoe or three at Baccarat, in England. Never was caught exactly, but was sacked because they knew something had gone down, but could not prove anything at all. I know that it was done, that is all I know for a fact. This however was 20 years ago and they said they would tell me how one day, but they never did. I think it involved others still working there at the time. The young fella was a good little hustler but I have lost touch with him now. I don’t know personally anyone else that’s switched a shoe.

Thanks for the vid, I too would buy a box set of this.
I can't imagine the balls required to switch a shoe, I almost didn't believe it when I read about it. |
