This question was posed to me and I am not able to find an answer. I figured this would be my best bet.
Does anyone know who invented the coin/knuckle finger roll? |

I don't believe so. In Bobo's, he mentions that it has been arund since before Downs so I wouldn't believe so. I got this from Joshua Jay's book so I don't know how accurate it is. I'm just assuming it is correct being that Josh never usually fails to credit the owners.

It's claimed by a couple of people. Nate Leipzig told a story about how he was playing with a button that had come off of his coat, and it fell down his knuckles, thus giving him the idea to replicate the movement with a coin.
I think the other contender might have been Alan Shaw, who claimed to have "discovered" the flourish when he missed a coin on stage, and it fell down the backs of his fingers, greatly impressing the crowd.
