Here is the deal, I need to have 10-minutes of NO SOUND between each track so that my music for my show runs more smoothly. I use a CD Player. I DO NOT have a CD recorder and I have no clue how to have 10-minutes of NOTHING between tracks. I burn my CD's from I-tunes and I would like to have a way to put a 10-minute time space between each track. If you know of an easy way please, please I need your help. I DO NOT want to go out and buy a CD Recorder. Can you Download NO SOUNDS on the internet to I-tunes, I do not know but I really need your help as I am having a Brain FREEZE.

Yes you can. there are probably a hundred people on this forum that have a nosound.mp3 that they will give you, royalty free
I think mine is 20mins. if you can't find a 10min track, let me know and I'll try to locate my 20min track.

Download & Install Audacity.
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ Click "Generate > Silence". Specify 10 minutes (you may have to enter it as the number of seconds, which would be 600). Export as an MP3 and import into iTunes. Now just add it to the playlist you're burning the CD from! |

Thank You, I will try this and let you know.

I'm not sure I understand the question fully but I will try to help.
I agree, with an Mp3 tech and Audacity you can do just about anything. However, a simpler and far more economical solution would to go to a cassette tape with a one touch on/off remote control. Both items can be purchased at Radio Shack for a reasonable price. Simply turn the power off of the cassette player by a remote in your pocket for how ever long you want, and touch the remote again to turn it on. This will not work with a CD player of course because the CD player will reset itself back to the 1st track when you turn the power back on. The sound quality won't be as good, but if you are not ready for the Mp3 tech then this might work for you.

Mystical Mike, Thank You for your advice as I was able to download this to I-Tunes and save it in the library. I could not export it as an MP3 I had to export as an WAV File. It works great and YES! you do put in seconds as opposed to minutes.

I Dream Of Genie, Bewitched, Mission Impossible, The Munsters, etc. for a whopping $1.00. I pop in a cassette in the CD/Cassette player, record the music I want (with pauses) and away I go. The simple on/off power box and hand held remote from Radio Shack works great. Wish you could do that with an Ipod or MP3. Or can you?? DP

Definitely you can do all of this and much easier with an Ipod (or nano).
Scosche makes Wireless Remote controls for iPod small enough to palm in your hand. (about $60 on Amazon) On the Ipod, a playlist lets you put the silent track after each song without taking up any extra disk space. This will have the same effect as a thousand dollar system that pauses after each track. Mike

Here's a collection ranging from 2 seconds to 32 minutes. The minutes-length samples are in WAV format and the others are in mp3 format.

Despite that these are made available under the GNU public license, the royalty questions are still murky. I have created a sound-alike 10.5 minute silent track, but it contains a silent interlude and trailer for which you need to pay a a royalty . . .

Just make a parody or satire of the silence...then you will be free and clear.

It's very easy to do. I use GoldWave and just create a new file 10 minutes in length and simply put nothing in it. As a Wave file it's ~100 megs but around 9 megs as an MP3. If you want, I can email you the MP3 file.

Ten one-minute clips would hypothetically work. Just keep in mind that if you're playing from a CD, you may have an additional two seconds in between each track. Some CD burning programs have an option that prevents this. I've never tried it in iTunes.
That doesn't sound like a lot, but across 10 tracks that means you get an additional 20 seconds. Although I love Audacity because the price is right, there's one small quirk when it comes to exporting MP3's. It's a quick one-time operation and from there MP3's are exported seamlessly. TO EXPORT MP3'S FROM AUDACITY FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS AT THIS LINK: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/help/faq......lame-mp3 |

I used some of Logic's royalty-free loops, and then recorded whatever I needed in my home, using studio mics. Then, I inserted tube-compressors & whatnot, reduced all the levels to "0", and, as we say in Canada, "Bobs your uncle". The exporting & mastering process is proprietary, and I'm not about to be THAT forthcoming! You know, reading back through some of the other posts, maybe I should just have used someone else's. Then again, I wouldn't have the pride & satisfaction of knowing I'd done it myself ... as a complete rip-off of someone else's hours/days/weeks of labour. Mine really does sound good, though: As good as anyone's.

In ITunes you have the option of starting and ending your track whenever you like. If you have a longer bit of silence and you want a shorter track just start the track later in the file. Using this method you only need one long file of silence and you can mix any number of smaller files from the same file.
Go to FILE>GET INFO and choose OPTIONS. You'll see a counter that let you choose when to start and stop the track. |
